Mangalore, March 26: Against the backdrop of Left parties and BJP’s opposition to the Indo-US nuclear deal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said it was time India stops being scared of the agreement.

“On the Indo-US nuclear deal, my thinking is that in India we need not be scared or lack confidence in dealing with anything or anybody,” Gandhi said while talking to students at TMA Pai Institute organised by National Student Union of India (NSUI).

Gandhi said that in fact other countries have now realised the strength of India. “I speak to foreign leaders and I get the sense that they have realised and recognised an united and confident India,” he said.

On a campaign trail in poll-bound Karnataka, he said “a united and confident India is the course for everyone, including students, the IT industry or the manufacturing industry.”

Gandhi asked the student community to be the engine of advancement of the country and help to the poor.

“Students like you are going to make us advanced and succeed. We can only advance if we have confidence”, he said.

He said the need of the hour was to increase opportunities for the poor in the society and help them realise their dreams.

“Connect with the poor in India. We must open up opportunities for the poor so that they can dream the same dream which you and I do,” Rahul said.

Gandhi stressed on the need to stop thinking of the poor as a burden and said they have a right to be empowered.

Hailing the UPA government for its pro-poor policies, Gandhi congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for being a channel of empowerment.

“I congratulate Manmohanji for empowering the poor and enabling many. It is the only policy by which the country can progress,” the Gandhi family scion said.

He said the need of the hour was two-fold--”to think unitedly as Indians and to expand opportunities for every one.” AICC General Sercretary also met fishermen’s families and diffrently-abled children and spent some time with them.

Come on boy, you have just started your tour to discover India and how can you talk of nuclear deal with US. You are unclear about nuclear deal. Since you mother and uncle mms are in favor of it, you are toeing the line. No one knows the hidden lines in the deal. You are just a kid disovering India now. Tell us, who are the foreign leaders who have met? We have never heard or seen you over tv talking to foriegn leaders. May be you have spoken to your colombian girl friend's associates. You have never been a student and how can you talk about what students wants to do and what not. God save those people and India, if they chose to follow you, the self proclaimed youth leader ably supported by the christian media in India. You should be hailing upa for pro fanatic muslims policies like saving afzal campaign by your mother and uncle mms. You are saying to think unitedly but you, your mother and your uncle mms are dividing India on religion basis favouring muslims with your policies.

Yeah, India should only be scared of the UPA and people like Rahul who have been thrust upon Indians without any 'qualification' and/or merit. N-deal with US is just a byproduct.
