New Delhi The 1-2 defeat to Hong Kong in their friendly last month pushed India six rungs down to 148th in the latest FIFA rankings released on Wednesday.

India, who started the year ranked 142nd, lost a lot of ground following the defeat on January 14. Hong Kong, meanwhile, improved nine places to 143rd.

Bob Houghton's team also dropped out of the top 20 in Asia and is now ranked 24th.

Spain still leads the FIFA table while the rest of the teams in the top 10 kept their previous positions intact. Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Croatia, England, Russia and Turkey complete the top-10.
