Indian evidence gives ‘good clues’: Pakistan

India-Pak

Islamabad Pakistan finally found merit in the evidence about Mumbai terror attacks given to it by India, saying that it contained "leads and good clues" and promised to file criminal cases if prima facie evidence is found.

"Quite a lot of material" was provided by India and the Pakistani investigators will work to convert this into "evidence that can stand up to judicial scrutiny", Pakistan's Interior Ministry chief Rahman Malik told a press conference.

He said the three-member counter-terror team, investigating the Mumbai attack and examining the Indian dossier, has been directed to submit its preliminary findings within 10 days.

No case regarding the Mumbai attacks has been registered so far in Pakistan. "If prima facie evidence is available on record, we will then convert it into a criminal case," Malik said, adding the time needed for any prosecution would depend on the judiciary.

Pakistan was not acting under pressure from India and will not accept "dictation" from anyone regarding the probe, he said.

Asked about British Foreign Secretary David Miliband's comments yesterday that Pakistan needs to go "farther and faster" in prosecuting those involved in the Mumbai attacks, Malik said, "We will not accept anyone's instructions to do things faster."

Sonia/Congress's focus by Tag on 20 Jan 2009

Just read that Pak and SL signed a defense agreement encircling India. I can see that the Congress party and Sonia don't care for India. After Pakistan just orchestrated a massacre in Mumbai and the memories are still raw, she still lets Pakistan and Sri Lanka, two enemies of India to run the show in the Indian ocean. She is just obsessed with getting revenge against the Tamils who are the long term strategic buffer for India. In the long term the religion, culture is what binds two communities together against those who are threatening those values. India's enemies are rejoicing at Sonia/Congress ruining our future.

India/Pakitan terrorism by M.A.Ayub Gohar on 18 Jan 2009

As per the article of a Pakistani journalist Pakistani leaders have been for many years accepting Indian money and cheating the Pakistani Muslims;Pakistani government and army were brutally suppressing Islamists and have killed/hanged hundreds of Taleban/Alqaeda activists and supporters/Islamists; Pakistani government has handed over even Muslim women to the American invaders of Afghanistan.Pakistani army attacked even Masjids killing many Islamic terrorists who were inside. Now,Pakistani government will further persecute Islamists with the accusation of launching attacks in Mumbai. In contrast,India has not even arrested any one Hindu terrorist among the hundreds of thousands of Hindu terrorists who have destroyed the lives and properties of innocent Muslims and Christians; many of these Hindu terrorists are now respected citizens and some of them became ministers. India is not qualified to criticize Pakistan on ‘terrorism’.

pakis are terrorists by kk on 27 Sep 2009

these pakis are completely untrustworthy. they not only lie to the world but lie to themselves without realizing that they are. Its really sad when a whole nation only survives on hating its neighbor, Its jealous, hateful and nasty rhetoric against India is showing and basically its a backlash upon themselves. Its the theory of Karma ! they reap what they sowed ! serves them right ! they should be isolated and consumed by their own hatred .... They made a deal with the devil (the Islamic terrorists) and now the same devil is biting them in the A

terrorists in Pakistan Admitting by Pakistan by B S GANESH on 18 Jan 2009

Pakistan was forced to admit that there is terrorist gang in their country. Now we must put pressure on all countries to know this and help the whole world.

Joint Investigation by saimirchu on 18 Jan 2009

With absolute freedom of access and a culprit in its custody, it took India 40 days to provide Pakistan 'the information" on 5 January. You expect Pakistan to prosecute people on the basis of tooth paste tube, chocolate wrapper and empty flour bag? How about the shop in India from where the sims were purchased, who helped the terrorist to take and store heavy arms and ammunition in the hotels. After all they did not hold back the Black Cat commandos for four days with catapult and stones. If Indian and Pakistani investigators continue to act in isolation, they will reach nowhere. Unless India has faith in Pakistan government's intention and agree to joint investigation, which by the way will give our people a chance to keep a close eye on Pakistani investigators, this exercise will remain futile and a new blame game will start. JOINT INVESTIGATION IS THE ONLY WAY FORWARD.

Credible proof............ by Mukesh Patel on 18 Jan 2009

The gilani investigating agency pvt.ltd. didn't found the credible evidence from the material provided by India.By the way Pakistan's interior minister should be given a pat for daring to go against the findings of gilani.

Let's Hope President elect Mr Obama know the source of real threat to peaceful world community . by gary on 18 Jan 2009

May God help President elect Mr Obama to understand how Indian Government and people find themselves helpless against repeated threats to use Nukes by pakistani "state actors" of present and past. Pakistani nukes have become a tool for pakistan to blackmail world community and force them to give billions to pakistan in the name of fighting terrorism and keeping nukes in safe hands. It is the responsibility of Pakistani government to keep these nukes safe. World leaders know that Nukes in the hands of Pakistan are dangerous for the whole world but feel powerless at this time do anything. We Wish president elect be able to do something concrete in this direction and remove this kind of threat for world peace for ever.

good clues by Srini on 17 Jan 2009

Pakistan does not need any instructions to go faster just as India does not need unsolicited advice from a junior british minister. Pakistan's ISI should go after the terrorists and redeem its name. It should prove to the rest of the world that it supports democracy.

Pak State by dr.chandrak.shekar on 17 Jan 2009

excuse me, pakistan is not a state that has worked on the basis of law or legal evidence. more than half the time it has had illegitimate military govts and when there are elected govts there is little doubt that the military has the real power. ZA Bhutto was one of the leaders who was part of the welcoming crowd when the first hijacked indian aircraft in pak n the early 70s. also mm azhar following his release in the kandahar hijack went to pak and showed up in a public rally in lahore soon after. if current pak rulers are really interested in evidence etc. how come they let him move around the country freely. what jurisprudence says that a person released in a terrorist act should be allowed to move around freely and not be arrested or tried?
