New Delhi, October 10: India's wholesale price index rose 11.80 per cent in the 12 months to Sept. 27, below the previous week's annual rise of 11.99 per cent, government data showed on Friday.

The rate was below a median forecast of 11.98 per cent in a Reuters poll of analysts.

Inflation for the week ended Aug. 2 was revised up to 12.91 per cent from 12.44 per cent.

The annual inflation rate was 3.36 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year.

The wholesale price index is more closely watched than the consumer price index, which is published monthly, because it covers a higher number of products and is released weekly.
