Injured BUPC member denied SSKM bed

Kolkata, March 31 An injured Bhumi Uchched Pratirodh Committee supporter from Nandigram was allegedly denied a bed at the SSKM hospital on Monday. Ashesh Khatua (42) was injured after some goons allegedly backed by the CPM beat him up at Sonachura on March 27. He was admitted to Tamluk hospital for treatment. He has received multiple fractures in his left hand. He was referred to SSKM hospital stating that he requires surgery. But when Khatua arrived at SSKM Hospital, doctors said that he does not require surgery and a plaster would be good enough, alleged Biswajit Mondal, who was accompanying Khatua.

When contacted, Dr Ashok Ghosh, the superintendent of SSKM hospital, denied it.
