Ludhiana, December 31 With the interrogation of Gurpreet Singh and three other terrorists — the accused in the Shingaar cinema blast case — in progress, the Ludhiana police have closed the gates of the Crime Investigation Agency police station.

The step has been taken to maintain secrecy in investigations and in view of the safety of the accused. The gates of the police station are usually open.

The police had yesterday announced the arrest of Gurpreet Singh alias Khalsa, a resident of Jang Pur Road, Mullanpur, Sandeep Singh alias Harry, resident of Ghuman village under Sudhar police station, Ravinder Singh alias Rinku, resident of Azad Nagar, Ludhiana and Palwinder Singh alias Pappu, resident of Kamalpura village under Sudhar police station. Nearly five kg of RDX was also recovered from Gurpreet Singh.

According to the police, Gurpreet Singh, who was the mastermind of the Shingaar cinema blast case, had undergone training in Pakistan in 2006 along with one of his accomplices, Harminder Singh, who has not been arrested yet.

SSP Ludhiana (Urban) R K Jaiswal, when contacted, admitted that the gates of CIA had been closed due to the sensitivity of the case and for security reasons.

When asked about the progress of the investigations, he said, "We cannot divulge the progress of investigations in the case. As of now, we hope to get more information from the arrested persons during interrogations."
