"We received an input that some militant outfits are planning to create terror in the national capital by targeting some prominent locations and based on that we have taken necessary security precautions," Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said.
The input was of general nature but police has stepped up security in Delhi so as not to take any chance, Singh said.
Following the intelligence warning, Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal has issued orders for mounting vigil at all major markets and other crowded places, including malls, railway stations, Delhi Metro and bus stands.
Police presence at these places has been increased, a senior police official said, adding patrolling has also been stepped up.
"There is nothing to panic. Personnel have been alerted. We are keeping a close watch," the official said.
Vigil has also been increased on Delhi's entry points, with Delhi Police officials maintaining a close coordination with their counterparts of neighbouring states.
A close watch is also being kept at cyber cafes and their owners have been asked to maintain a list of their customers along with server logs, the official said, adding that dealers providing mobile phone connections have been asked to maintain a list of their customers.
Last month, police had received inputs that some Kashmir- based militant outfit was planning to blow up Akshardham temple in east Delhi.
It really makes me scared to see so much of hatered just floating in air. When the terrorists will (hope not) strike, they will not see who they are going to kill, how far the blast will go on to kill, and whether it will kill Muslims or Hindus, or others, as many can not be recognised by their dresses or faces. I have only one request to the terrorists (if they care for) that if they are going to attack for sure, and if they are going to succeed in pressing those triggers or buttons, then please bring your entire family with yourself, including your elders, sisters, young children, wifes and mothers; so that they can go to heaven with all the fanfare and media hype. It is guaranteed that the nation will pay equal respect and homage to them, as the others.
That’s the problem when we tolerate religious fundamentalism. USA and West learned the language these Islamic terrorists understand and started speaking that language only while talking to them. But we miserably failed to even understand that, leave alone talking. Chanting the mantra of peace NEVER guarantee peace unless the other person understands that language. What asses are! We all can understand that Pak based Militants, GOI can not do much and wait for them come to India, but Kashimr based militant they can not tackle is beyound any one. What is the problem if we wear hanging Pyjamas even in Alaska (muslims in arabia were used to wear Pyjamas enough above the ankle in order to avoid tearing at the bottom due to friction with the sand) . Muslims are hated by others? We don't hate others, allah hate them. World evaluates you by your behavior, not by your name. Please correct your behavior first.
Great post. I hope people understand that we need to use force when needed. Chanting the mantra of peace never guarantee peace but force sometimes does, particularly when dealing with mad dogs.
