London Barack Obama's inauguration as the first African-American President of America will mark the beginning of "a new era", says Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt.

"It's a new era for us - it reconfirms the original ideals of America. We're very excited about what the future holds. You see people look invigorated at home rather than the cynicism for the last 10 years."

Pitt was speaking at the premier of his film ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ in Berlin which was also attended by his partner Angelina Jolie, the ‘Daily Mail’ reported.

The actor said he was looking forward to the event and that the American people were ready for change.

Pitt said he was congratulated by Europeans the day Obama won the elections while he was shooting for his forthcoming film "Inglorious Basterds" in Berlin.

"I've been filming here the last few months and the Americans who were here during the night of the election were congratulated by all Europeans on the set," he said.

"I thought that was really interesting. It's a big day for us."

Pitt stars as Benjamin Button in the film, who is born as an 86-year-old man and ages backward.
