Legal Aid like Medical Aid is the right of all citizens. If it is being provided to suspected terrorist by a Govt organisation it just adds the dignity of Indian Democracy. Let all help be provided and if after that any one is found guilty at least award the punishment given by the court. Why are we against legal aid to these suspects? Do we think they will get away if there is a lawyer defending them in court? Is our legal system and the police work so weak that the only way to punish terrorists is by denying them a good lawyer? Ram Jethmalani (then an active BJP member) had defended the killers of Indira Gandhi as their lawyer. The BJP made him a minister when it came to power later on. Why are they now against the university offering legal aid to its students? In fact, it is important that these terrorists get death sentence after a good lawyer has tried his best to save them. Otherwise they will get sympathy and the enemies of the country will use it do spread more terrorism among Muslim youth like they are using Afzal Guru's case. Arjun Singh is not exactly known for doing any thing in the national interest.His utterances regarding reservations to minorities etc were aimed at creating a rift among the indians.With age his abilities to think logically seem to have drastically weakened.It is best to ignore him and let the situation take its course.

Everyone has the right to be provided legal help. That has to be provided by the Govt and not the college. It sets a bad precedent as Religion seems to be over-riding all other consideration. Backlash can't be ruled out and if it happened, there would be a justification behind it.
