Melbourne Out-of-favour wicket-keeper Brad Haddin said he has been dropped and not rested, as suggested by the selection panel, from Australia's ODI team because of his inconsistent form.

Haddin was replaced with Matthew Wade for the first three matches of the tri-series, involving India and Sri Lanka, with chairman of selectors John Inverarity saying that the 34-year-old was being rested after a heavy Test schedule.

However, Haddin feels otherwise and admitted that he faces the risk of losing his place to Wade permanently if the latter comes up with impressive performances in the opening few games of the series, starting Sunday.

"I think any time you're out of the Australian cricket team I think you're dropped," Haddin was quoted as saying by Sky Sports Radio.

"You give another guy an opportunity to take your spot and you've got to look if they do well, you could find it hard to get back in the team.

"But that's the way it's and I've just got to deal with that and make sure I'm ready to play," he said.

Cricket Australia's chairman of selectors, Inverarity, however, suggested that Haddin will return for the latter half of the tri-series.

Haddin will lead the Prime Minister's XI against Sri Lanka in Canberra on February 3 and sensing the possible threat from Wade, the stumper is determined to put his best foot forward in the game.

"If you give your spot up and someone does well you've got no right just to walk straight back in.

"I'm actually looking forward to the PM's game, for someone from Canberra it's a great opportunity to get back and captain that side," he said.

"I've just got to make sure the next time I get an opportunity again I'm ready to go and I know I will be."
