J&K constable, three others held with heroin

Amritsar, February 17 Special Narcotics Cell of the Punjab Police today arrested Sajid Mohamood, a resident of Hazan Dandkote in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir who is a constable, with three other smugglers and recovered 1-kg heroin worth Rs 1 crore in the international market.

The other arrested have been identified as Amit Kumar, alias Mintu, Nawal Sharma, both from Poonch, and Pankaj Sharma, alias Pinku, of Roop Nagar, said Tulsi Ram, SSP of the Special Narcotics Cell, Amritsar.

He said a special team, led by DSP Rajpal Singh, apprehended the smugglers from an area under Kathunangal police station on a tip-off.

“They were waiting for a party near bus stand in a white Maruti Wagon-R car to sell the contraband when they were nabbed. A case under sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of NDPS Act has been registered,” he said.
