New Delhi In an indication that Narendra Modi would not be acceptable for Prime Ministership to BJP's allies, JD-U was dismissive about the Gujarat Chief Minister being projected for the top post saying there was "no vacancy".

JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav, who is also NDA convenor, said it did not augur well for the BJP to speak like this after projecting L K Advani as BJP's candidate for prime ministership.

"There is no vacancy (in the prime ministerial post). NDA has decided that Advani is its candidate," Yadav said replying to questions at a press conference in New Delhi.

Yadav's remark came when asked to comment on statements by a number of BJP leaders that Modi could be the party's prime ministerial candidate in the next general elections.

"Who knows what will happen after 100 years. It is not necessary to say all these things now," he said.

Projection of Modi as the prime ministerial candidate was initiated by BJP leader Arun Shourie and was endorsed by some of his party colleagues Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

However, BJP President Rajnath Singh is apparently not favouring it as he has reportedly said that such a talk was "childish".

Yadav, who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Madhepura in Bihar, expressed confidence that NDA would emerge as the largest combine with the highest number of seats.

He, however, evaded questions as to how many seats the NDA would get. He said development was the key issue in the current polls unlike in the past when corruption and scams were major issues.

The JD(U) leader favoured reforms in the poll process to ensure that voters exercise their franchise in a simple and fair manner.

The reforms can be worked out at an all-party meeting, he said.

Referring to appointments in top posts in Election Commission, CBI and the courts, he said these should be done in a transparent manner and favoured early steps in this regard.

JD(U)'s support will not be required for MOdi to become PM. So they can have rest and take care of Bihar.

PM of India. by RN on 03 May 2009

I have seen Muslims cry as soon as they hear the name of Modi. Congress has no issue other than to cry for Gujarat riots, conveniently forgeting the train mishap. If the population percentage of Sikhs were similar to that of Muslims, Sikh riot victims would have got the same support from Congress - see the effect of "shoe". This is clearly a vote bank politics and everyone in India hope that the Gujarat riot is settled soon by SC so that Congis real face comes up. SC was eager to set up a fast track court, but this is not seen in the case of 1984 or other riots, and moreover they took this issue in the middle of election - who knows the motive of SCJs as well - because one or the otherway, they favours their masters who appointed them to the seat - as has been seen in CBI and AG, etc. If Congis were so concerned about the Godhra riots, why they did not bring up this issue in the Parliament and asked the SC to take up this case on a priority basis? Moreover, who kills who in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. I do not think it is Muslims vs others?

JD(U) not keen to back Narendra Modi as PM by Javed Khan on 03 May 2009

Let us see what happens if Bjp emerges as the single largest party, then JDU will be the first to change its views. These Politicians are all the same , only the name of the party is different See what Kalyan Singh is claimimg, that he was not aware ofthe Babri demolition and he has come out with this version a full 17 years later

BJP - the National Party, not an individual's outfit. by Aniyan on 03 May 2009

Makes no difference, whether JD U remained in NDA. BJP is the tallest political party in India now, in terms of having largest number of members of elected bodies. Its story is not like Janata Party, which ruled the country once and disintegrated. BJP governed the country, sat in Opposition and now the strong contender of power again. So, BJP is now here to remain in the center of politics; not like JD / RJD / LJP etc. which are parties of individuals.

Modi, our CM of Gujarat today - PM of our nation tmrw by Murtaza Arzai on 03 May 2009

Narrow minded hate mongers of anti-national anti-social criminal bend can not see beyond false media propoganda including that of 5* star activists like Arundhati (Suzanna) Roy and Teesta (Javed) Setalvad. Both of them have been proven wrong for their false allegations. It is known fact that Bihar and UP have low education and a large class of population with low IQ. So it will take time for them to see beyond vote-bank politics. Modi and Gujarat were first to help flood victims of Bihar irrespective of caste, religion, etc. Satya Mev Jai Te!

INDIANS! by James Mahomed on 03 May 2009

There are some who are scared of Modi because he is the only one at present who is capable of pulling India out of the system of indiscriminate exploitation by vested interests usinf primitive ideas of religion that justifies intolerance and preaches to looked down upon other faiths. It is not surprising that the descendents of the spineless and brainless who sold the nation in the past to the invaders should repeat the behaviour for few ruppes and a vague promise of power. Yadav is a liitle man trying to think big.

Modi as PM by rakesh m on 02 May 2009

Dont wory, when it comes to projecting Modi as PM, BJP would not need outside support, BJP will win the numbers on its own! Even Modi enemies will vote for him! Because the country needs such an efficient person to be the PM!

conceded defeat by iftiindian on 02 May 2009

So this is the conclusion that advani and bjp have come to.now they are projecting a hate monger Modi milosvic as their pm candidate because they do not want to hurt advani because he is a pm in waiting and will remain so till his end.now bjp lost all its hope of winning election and forming government so as a last option they are projecting Modi, who will be a bad omen for the country,as a pm.

Why single out Modi? by Appu on 04 May 2009

MODI...AS PM by Dr. Ash Sood on 03 May 2009

I FEEL IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY TO HAVE MODI LIKE PERSON AS PM.ALTHOUG UNTIL HE IS CLEARED OF ANY DIRECT INVOLVEMENT IN ANY 'RIOTS' AT THE SAME TIME THESE SO CALLED SACULAR PARTIES SHOULD ALSO LOOK INTO THE ROLE OF PEOPLE INVOLVED IN BHAGALPUR RIOTS AND INVOLVEMENT OF PEOPLE LIKE 'LALOOS' TO CHEAT THE VOTE BANKS MERE WITHDRAWING FROM THE CANDIDATURES OF TYTLER AFTER THE SHOE THROWING DOESN'T CLEAN THE CONGRESS TO BE CHAMPION OF 'SACULARITY' AND PROTECTORS OF MINORITIES WHILE THEY ARE MUM ON SIKHS BEING DRIVEN OUT OF 'SWAT AND 'ZAZIA' AND KASHMIRI PEOPLE DRIVEN OUT OF THEIR OWN STATE AND LIVING AS REFUGEES. IN INDIA IT SEEMS SACULAR MEANS NOT TO TALK ABOUT HINDU/SIKHS. ITS TIME NOW FOR INDIAN 'SO CALLED MINORITIES' TO SEE THROUGH THE GAME PLAN AND NOT JUST BE A NUMBER IN VOTE BUT STAND UNITED AS PROUD INDIANS WHERE THERE IS NO MINORITY AND TRY TO GET RID OF THIS RELIGION, CASTE BASED SOCIETY AND STOPPING THE CASTE BASED RESERVATION SHOULD BE THE FIRST STEP.
