The decision to cancel the order was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad at his residence here after the shrine board decided against pursuing its claim over the land.
In its order, the cabinet directed the Tourism Department to make adequate provisions in its annual budget keeping in view the ever increasing number of Amarnath pilgrims. This would allow existing facilities for pilgrims not only to be properly maintained but also upgraded annually.
The cabinet said that land would be made available to the Tourism Department as per the requirements at various locations for the pilgrimage from Jammu onwards to the cave shrine via Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
The cabinet also emphasised that the state government was fully committed not to interfere in the religious affairs of the shrine board.
The cabinet decision came in the wake of a letter written by governor N N Vohra, who is also chairman of the board, to the chief minister on June 29 in which he had stated that in view of the state government's firm commitment that the requirements and interests of the pilgrims will be fully ensured, the board did not need to pursue its earlier request for forest land.
According to the cabinet order, the government reiterated its full commitment to discharge all the responsibilities of undertaking the creation of required infrastructure and providing all logistical support for making available various services to the pilgrims.
The demand for revoking of the order took an ugly turn on June 23 with protests turning violent and spreading across the valley. Four persons were killed and nearly 400 others injured in the agitation.
Cutting across party and ideological lines, separatists and PDP and mainstream parties from the valley demanded immediate revocation of the order.
PDP pulled out from the Congress-led coalition government on June 28. The Azad government has been asked by the governor to prove its majority by July 7 on the floor of the house.

Dear friends,I agree, that there is no point in fighting and raising slogans of india belonging to any religious fanatics, if someone wants to finish all muslims, we cannot do that. Similarly if someone wants to kill all hindus that is also not a possibility, so why to fight for such things which fetch only hatred rather live in peace and be good to each other so that we can have an environment of peace.If we look at it the sacrifice was given by every national of the country whether muslim, hindu or any other religion during independence, we are reaping the fruit of there hardwork, we have not done anything except to enjoy there hard labor. so why to destroy the peace which they dreamed of bringing in india.Thanks

The allotment of forest land in question was meager 40 hectors (100 acres), and that too for a temporary period of 2 months in a year. All hell broke loose because of that. and all kinds of non-sense talks like government is planning Israel type settlements, it is going to change the demographics of Kashmir, and so on. All this mentality has its roots in Article 370, which gives Kasmiri people special status. Out leaders are shouting from roof tops that Kasmit is an integral part of India! It seems as if Kashmir is on a lease or something.
Hi Guys,It is a hot topic everywhere now, this land row.in my opinion shankar is right, we should not get emotional but rather have far sightedness.It is not about land but it is about votes, BJP/VHP are anti social elements, they would like to take our country backward by sowing religious sentiments in the hearts of people and they live with hatred and like the people of this country to live in unrest.Humble request shun this attitude the way India is progressing it is not far that we could be most advanced country in the world, these type of petty issues hold us back and hit our economy.Look at pakistan, their condition has become vulnerable only because of interior clashes, which weakens the country and takes it backward by years. Hello, hindus we are not hindus because of a religion we named as hindus but instead of the river we have been named as hindus.The issue of land allotment and cancellation are all political motives which these politicians play to gather there votes.We dont want the same condition in our country as in other countries like iraq, pakistan, afghanistan and etc.. where nobody knows whether they will be safe at the end of the day.Please for God sake do not disturb the harmony in the country it will hit the career of every child and every citizen of the country will be burned in this fire of terrorism if we pursue these unwanted issues.live in peace let not hatred get seeded in our hearts and hearts of others our success is not in some piece of land but having safety of life and dignity of every citizen of this country is our success. Congress and media have already declared Hindu protest in Jummu as communal. Hindus will keep getting thousand cuts (as promised by Muslim Bhutto) unless Congress, Commies, Laloo, Mulayam, Karunanidhi etc are not wiped out in next elections. For centuries pilgrims have been making the arduous trip to Amarnath cave without the benefit of any facilitation by the state There is a separate Haj cell in the ministry of external affairs. The Haj Committee of India has its own premises in Mumbai. Similarly the State Haj Committees have their own premises in various other Indian cities. These facilities have been built on land provided by the state governments.Every government in Delhi has ensured that only Muslims are appointed to these posts, a practical decision intended to facilitate their travel to Mecca and Medina, where non-Muslims are not allowed. There is also a separate consul for Haj matters in the Indian consulate general in Jeddah. Contrastingly charter flights are operated directly from 16 airports in India to Saudi Arabia. Returning pilgrims can transport 10 litres of holy Zam Zam water with them free of cost. At Delhi airport there is a separate Haj terminal.
If Indian government is truely secular, it should stop immediately giving haj subsidy to muslims including Air India ticket to Mecca Medina.

GURU, unfortunately in a secular India all Hindu religious places are controlled by Govt. Tirupathi by AP, Shabarimala and Guruvayoor in Kerala by CPM led LEFT Front Govt etc etc. The offerings of Hindus at the temple are used by these Govts.The same Govts dare not touch a minority place of worship. In Kashmir the state Govt made the Governor the president of Shrine Board, evidently because it would be un-Islamic for the Muslim dominated Govt to even acknowledge existance of any other GOD.HINDU CAN PRAY TO ANY GOD INCLUDING ALLAH AND BE STILL A HINDU WHILE A MUSLIM CANNOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE EXISTANCE OF ANY OTHER GOD. Governor has no power to assume chairmanship unless the state Govt specificaly entrusted him the responsibility especialy in Kashmir which has special powers which are much more than other states.

No, he is not Chairman of mosques, too. Those were, at first, taken over by Abdullah family and when PDP came to power, were taken away from them. Kashmir has had a Dharmarth Foundation since the Maharaja days . When the Shrine board was constituted, it becamea part of that. There is also the requirement that it be headed by a Hindu which will probably be now nullified and taken over by the government which of course will always be headed by a Muslim. Nehru is dead; Nehru is alive!!!We will always pay for Nehru!!!
