Kolkata, March 27 The Jadavpur University is taking a cautious approach to the idea of outsourcing the non-teaching posts of the university that could signal the end of CPM-backed Karmachari Samsad.

A one-man inquiry committee, formed to look into the violence last year, had clearly blamed the role of the samsad in the violence and had suggested that security personnel can be recruited from outside for better arrangements at the university.

The university has decided to constitute a working group that will look into the matter of recruitment of non-teaching staff in the university. In an executive council meeting a proposal to form a group was considered. However, no decision could be taken on what will be the exact procedure for the recruitment, the university authorities claimed.

“The Karmachari Samsad, the union of non-teaching staff, is also a part of the working group,” said Partho Pratim Biswas, executive committee member of JU. The executive council also could not decide on the appointment of a faculty for the physics department and matters have been postponed for the next meeting. The authorities, however, claimed that the appointment of all other departments’ faculty have been streamlined.
