Jalandhar, September 02 The police cracked a case of murder of a woman with the arrest of her son. The accused confessed to have committed the crime because his mother was not agreeing to his marriage.

Lakhi of Rehmanpur village in Jalandhar Cantonment was found murdered in her house on July 17 and her son Lal Chand, who is a peon, had told the police that when he returned home, he found the house bolted from outside. “When I opened the door, I found my mother killed and some household articles lying scattered,” he had told the police.

Police found many contradictions in the statements of Lal Chand and rounded him up. During his interrogation, he admitted to have killed his mother by strangulating her, and to make it look like a murder, he scattered the household item around her body.
