Adare (Ireland), May 16 Jeev Milkha Singh overcame a disastrous third shot on the par-five last hole to return a brilliant six under 66, which powered the Indian to joint lead with Australia's Richard Green at the Irish Open. Singh was six-under-par playing his last hole of the day but looked unlikely to finish as leader when he crashed his third shot into the green-side bushes. However, a "perfect chip" helped the Indian to finish off well. "I was just trying to chip it out from there and it came out perfect. Missed the hole and went to about 40 feet away. I was happy with that. "I said okay, I know I can make a six, but when I rolled that putt, I know it looked pretty good, like it was going in, and it did. And that's the story of the day really - I made a lot of great up and downs today," Singh described. Earlier, Singh began well with a birdie on the very first hole and followed it up with another birdie on fifth and eagled the seventh for a blemish free front-nine. The Chandigarh golfer continued his good form on then back-nine as well he fired consecutive birdies. Jeev's compatriot SSP Chowrasia was close on his heels at tied seventh with three under 69 on day one. Chowrasia birdied the sixth, seventh and 11th in his round of bogey-free 69. Another Indian, Shiv Kapur's even par 72 helped him finish round one in tied 30th place. Kapur birdied the seventh, ninth and 13th and bogeyed the second, 12th and 17th. Jyoti Randhawa fired four over 76 to be tied 95th. He had five bogeys and a lone birdie on the fifth hole.
