Chandigarh, January 4 Renowned golfer Jeev Milkha Singh got married to his childhood friend Kudrat Brar in a private ceremony at a city court in Chandigarh on Friday. According to reports, the couple tied the knot in the presence of friends and family members this afternoon.

At a press meet last year, Jeev had hinted at his matrimonial plans, saying he had “a girl in mind.” Brar, a former Human Resources manager based in Gurgaon, met Jeev when they were neighbours in Sector 7. Kudrat’s father, Surinder Singh Brar, is the former DGP of Haryana.

Brar married a banker and moved to Delhi. Jeev and Brar met again after the latter divorced her husband of 10 years. Brar has a 13-year-old son, who is studying at Sanawar. He is a budding golfer. For three years now, Brar has been seen accompanying Jeev for tournaments.

Jeev Milkha Singh, 36, won the Padma Shri in 2006. The same year, he was ranked 37 in the world, and topped the Asian tour Order of Merit, finishing 16th on the European money list with more than $2.7 million. His close friend and golfer, Amritinder Singh, had said then: “Jeev’s parents are dying for him to get married but he has always put them off saying he won’t settle down until he made it to the US tour.”
