The jeweller Narayan Ramlal Choudhari (30), who suffered major injuries across the body, was admitted to a private hospital in Yerwada. A complaint was lodged with the Yerwada police station. Police said Choudhari had closed the shop in the afternoon. Two persons went to his home and requested him to open the shop saying that they wanted to purchase some ornaments urgently. Choudhari opened the shop and was showing them some ornaments, when one more person came in and pulled the shutter down. They then attacked Choudhari with sharp weapons and tied him to a chair, stole the gold jewellery and escaped. While making their exit, they again pulled down the shutter. The injured Choudhari somehow dragged himself towards the shutter and started banging the shutter with his legs. Some citizens who noticed the sound opened the shutter to check what had happened. They were shocked to see Choudhari lying in a pool of blood.
