Manchester Sunderland stunned Premier League leaders Manchester City with a stoppage-time goal to win 1-0 on Sunday as Roberto Mancini's side let the slip-ups of their main title rivals go unpunished.

With Manchester United and Chelsea slumping to home defeats the previous day and Tottenham Hotspur managing only a draw, City arrived at the Stadium of Light intending to make the chasing pack pay for dropping points.

Instead, they too were shocked as South Korean Ji Dong-won slotted home in the third minute of stoppage time to snatch the three points for the hosts after a frantic finale when City had desperately chased a winner of their own.

The result left City on 45 points from 19 games, ahead of second-placed United on goal difference and six points in front of third-placed Spurs who have played one game fewer.

In the day's other game, Victor Anichebe scored an 87th-minute winner as Everton beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in a drab mid-table encounter at the Hawthorns.
