Los Angeles Singer John Mayer has come to the rescue of fellow celebrity Britney Spears, who has been blasted by Australian media and fans for lip-syncing during her show.

The 'Who Says' hitmaker, who is down under to promote his next album 'Battle Studies', expressed his opinion on the popular microblogging website 'Twitter'.

"If you're shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you," wrote Mayer.

On Friday, about 100 angry fans reportedly stormed out of Britney's concert at the Burswood Dome in the Western Australia city of Perth, saying they were disappointed by the lackluster performance and Spears's lip-syncing during her two-hour show.

The 'Womanizer' hitmaker was "extremely upset" at the backlash she has received, said her tour promoter Paul Dainty.

Spears' manager, Adam Leber, also went for a damage control via her Twitter account.

"It's unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn't enjoy the show last night. Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did," Leber wrote.

That's not entirely correct. JM is pointing out the naivete of bubble gum pop fans, not the validity of lip syncing. Also to Mark H: Please refrain from ALL CAPS. It reads like loud, immature, illiterate, shouting. -d.

LIP SYNC by MARK H on 11 Nov 2009

IF YOU GO TO A CONCERT TO HEAR AND SUPPORT SOMEONES MUSIC THEY SHOULD PERFORM IT LIVE AS IS. EITHER YOU ARE A TALENTED MUSICIAN AND PERFORMER OR YOU ARE NOT. MAYBE IT IS JUST ME, BUT IF YOU CAN'T PERFORM YOUR OWN MUSIC LIVE WITHOUT LIP SYNC, HEY JUST STATE THAT ON THE TICKET PURCHASE. ALL THE CONCERTS I'VE ATTENDED THE MUSICANS PLAYED AND SANG LIVE ON STAGE. THAT IS WHAT A CONCERT SHOULD BE. I HAVE A CROSBY,STILLS AND NASH DVD THAT PERHAPS BRITTANY COULD LEARN FROM. JOHN I SEEM TO REMEMBER YOU MAKING A COMMENT ABOUT STEVIE RAY, AND HOW YOU WERE AMAZED AT HOW HE COULD PLAY AT THE PACE AND INTENSITY THAT HE DID. KEEP THAT IN MIND ,PLAYING LIVE IS JUST THAT,THE BEST YOU CAN GIVE MISTAKES INCLUDED.
