The constitution of India guarantees freedom of religion.When the religiosity of some people brand other people as unprivileged, normally people seek acceptance elsewhere. So they embrace the attractive and simple doctrine of universal brotherhood. That is not forced conversion. Unless somebody is not converted voluntarily and without force and ready to abide by the message of love and peace, no group would want them to convert.

Enough is enough - the Central Govt. must impose President's Rule in Orissa. It is as shame for the BJP, Sangh Parivar, VHP, Bajrang Dal, the Ruling Party isn Orissa, Navin Patnaik that our Prime Minister was pulled up for the rule of the jungle in Orissa and other states. Pull down the Orissa Govt. PRESIDENT's RULE is a must in Orissa. After so many weeks the govt. still does not want to contain the precipetators of violence and that too against the Christians. Hang your heads in shame. Who gave anyone the right to kill people even if ther are conversions taking place. The Indian Constitution has given all Indians the right to preach and practice any religion. No one is a fool in India to change one's religion by inducements. The BJP just wants to whip cumunal passion before the Lokh Sabha Elections. Advani is an extreemist and due to him the terrorist have sprung up in India. He started it by demolishing the Babri Masjid and then on there as various incidents happening in India.

Any one in this country is free to follow any religion. But the Government should bring in a legislation were a Officer in the rank of District Judge must approve the conversion case by case. If it is a genuine conversion there may not be any problem. This will definitely bring down forced conversions. Also the Government shoud take note of the new generation churchs which encourage conversion of people(mostly Dalits) by scathing verbal attack on Hindu Gods and Gods. The Hindutuva organisations also should immediately stop vandalising Catholic churchs as Catholics normally don't indulge in forced conversion. They are also highly philanthropic and have provided education and health facilities in the remote corners of India.

I suggest that we must seriously consider enacting a law so that all those who are converted to Christianity or Islam can return to their original religion. Those who would like to do so, should be able to register their names with the district magistrate, who, after due verification, will send the details to the government. The State government can consider giving them special packages like free education, soft loans to build houses and so on.If this is done, then we can get back all those who are converted and there will be no need for acrimony with other religions.

The total bankrupcy of political establishment is the main reason for the continued violence against chritians.when will our P.M.and oppostion leader rise above their petty political intrests?

There is no doubt that the recent damage done to churches is harmful to a peaceful society in Karnataka. But the way the situation is being handled by politicians and people prominent in public life, can perpetuate the harm done.For example, Mallikarjuna Kharge advises Hindu seers to stick to religion and not meddle in politics. Can he explain the ruckus kicked up by his party, when in power, about the Kanaka Dasa tower incident? The constitutional right he claims is available for others too, in a public cause. More distressing is the news of the respectable former judge, M F Saldanha, and former police chiefs like Colaso and Sangliana, discussing the situation with a US diplomat. Do they believe that the US government has a legitimate right to interfere in our local issues? Or is it a coincidence that the Italian and US governments show so much involvement in an Indian domestic matter? What are their interests?Please let me know whether any commission has gone into conversion

The fact is that nobody is against Hindus. At the same time all right thinking people are against the Hinduthua as propoganded by VHP.Bajarang Dal, RSS and the BJP.Calling a man who took leadership in burning of churches last year, a swamiji ,is a shame not only to Hindus, but to the whole nation also.The minorities are upset not just because of the attacks by fundamental forces, but for the apathi shown by the goverments, especially where ever BJP is in power. After the Gujarat riots?After the attacks of Churches in Karnataka? Democracy is judged not by how majority are protrcted, but by how minorities are protected.

In Kandhamal district, for instance, the Christian population has increased 5 fold in 25 years

The likes of Girish Karnad, U R Ananthamurthy and Mahesh Bhatt Teesta Shabana Azmi Barka Dutt Sardesai know which side of their bread is buttered. Their selective amnesia is amusing. Did these raise any voice in support of amaranth pilgrims protest or against durga pooja protest and innumerous atrocities on hindusThey never react on lakhs of Hindus being displaced from Kashmir or innumreous atrocities on hindus. The National Minorities Commission (NMC) is active only when the sufferers are non-Hindus,namely Christians and Muslims. But when it’s a case of Hindus being the minority community, their sufferings are totally ignored.Take the case of Hindu Reangs of Mizoram: they have been driven out of the state since they refuse to embrace Christianity. The NMC has never bothered to visit the camps of these 30,000 unfortunate Reangs in Tripura. Nor has it bothered to look into the pathetic living conditions of Kashmiri Pandits, either in Jammu or elsewhere.Hindus, as a minority community, cannot celebrate Durga Puja in southern Tripura, Meghalaya and other Christian majority states of the east. Does the Constitution define minorities as only non-Hindus? Now, when some churches have been attacked in and around Mangalore, they have rushed in, which has ultimately resulted in the Central Government issuing a warning to the Karnataka government

It is high time leaders of the established mainline churches, known for their erudition, equipoise and empathy, came out in the open and disowned such provocative acts of intolerance of the fundamentalist Christian groups masquerading as real Christians. How can the Christian preachers propagate that their faith is the best in the world without reading what the scriptures of other faiths have to say?
