Kandhamal violence

Phulbani BJP leader and a prime accused in last year's communal riot in Kandhamal, Manoj Pradhan, was released from jail here on Sunday, a day after being granted interim bail to be able to take oath as an MLA. Pradhan, who was lodged in jail since his arrest in October, 2008 on charge of murder, riot and arson, was set free after furnishing required documents, a day after a fast track court here granted him conditional bail for 15 days in two cases. He had earlier got bail in 12 other cases.

Elected to Orissa assembly from G Udaygiri segment in the recent elections, the riot accused was granted bail on the basis of Orissa High Court's order. Pradhan had earlier moved the High Court seeking bail to be able to take oath as a member of the Orissa assembly. Refuting the charges against him, Pradhan told reporters soon after his release: "I have been falsely implicated. The charges levelled against me are fabricated and fictitious." The riot accused, who is facing charges in seven murder cases, six cases relating to house torching and an attempt to murder case, said he would soon take oath as a legislator and work for the development of his constituency.

State BJP president Suresh Pujari said Pradhan was likely to take oath as an MLA on Tuesday and the party had urged the assembly speaker and police to provide adequate security to Pradhan. "We fear Pradhan may become a target of Maoists outside the jail," Pujari said.

Pradhan left for his native place at Raikia in the tribal dominated district soon after being released and was likely to proceed to Bhubaneswar shortly to take oath as a legislator. While all other 146 MLAs have already taken oath as members of the Legislative Assembly, Pradhan could not perform the constitutional duty as he remained inside prison. Pradhan, who was initially lodged in G Udaygiri jail, had been shifted to the district headquarters jail at Phulbani after the elections. He had defeated his nearest Congress rival Ajayanti Pradhan by over 20,000 votes in the assembly elections, results of which were announced on May 16.

Why fast track court in convicting those who attacked church and completely silent in arresting and convicting kilers of swamiji

STOP CONVERSION by s k pattabi on 06 Jul 2009

STOP CONVERSION Alarming 5 fold increase in Kandhamal Christian population from six per cent in 1971 to 27 per cent in 2001 ,It began with the arrival of Christian missionaries in the area who found the remote region very conducive to conduct prosetylization amongst the poor tribals. The conversions continued unhindered until the arrival of Swami Laxmanananda who put strenuous efforts to stop conversions and help reconversion to Hindouism as well. If not for his effort Kandhamal would have been another Nagaland in the making where the separatist movement has wrecked havoc in the state. The aggressive Christian proselytization in Orissa today pitched previously peaceful tribals into warring camps of Christians and non-Christian. This has has vitiated the peace that has existed with various communities for millenia. Why Orissa Orissa has been specially targeted because of a huge tribal population. This allows the missionaries to work from the scrutiny of the media

Stop Conversion, stealing land of the Kandhas, their caste certificate by Dipak Ghosh on 06 Jul 2009

Instead of protecting peoples culture, Congress is deeply involved with Missionaries. Even one Rajya Sabha Member of Congress is head of a missionary Organization. HAS CONGRESS FORGOTTEN THAT MAHATMA GANDHIJI WAS OPPOSED TO RELIGIOUS CONVERSION?

Naked Truth by S K Patil on 05 Jul 2009

NHRC NMC are active only when the sufferers are non-Hindous,namely Christians and Muslims. But when it’s a case of Hindous being the minority community, their sufferings are totally ignored.Take the case of Hindou Reangs of Mizoram: they have been driven out of the state since they refuse to embrace Christianity. The NMC has never bothered to visit the camps of these 30,000 unfortunate Reangs in Tripura. Nor has it bothered to look into the pathetic living conditions of Kashmiri Pandits, either in Jammu or elsewhere.Hindous, as a minority community, cannot celebrate Durga Puja in southern Tripura, Meghalaya and other Christian majority states of the east. Does the Constitution define minorities as only non-Hindous? Now, when some churches have been attacked in and around Mangalore, they have rushed in, which has ultimately resulted in the Central Government issuing a warning to the Karnataka government.

There are two types of law in India, one for criminal politicians and one for common criminals. by DR.KANDAHAR CHOR on 05 Jul 2009

Conversion and reconversions was the root case, and the sanghparivar played one of the most stupid and osama-bin-laden like role when they burned Churches and killed nuns in our Hindu names. The criminal Manoj Pradhan was serving a sentence when he was released this is even more criminal.

Arresting Manoj Pradhan.. is like answering the wrong question by Chandra SG on 05 Jul 2009

It is evident from Justice mahopatra's report that CONVERSIONs are root cause for Kandhamal Riots... Arresting Manoj Pradhan will only back-fire.. as he will for sure become better leader with more reach to masses.Stop conversions and also stop this drama of bashing BJP as communal.... BJP has been shouting at top of its voice not to encourage Conversions.. and today the local government inaction to stop Conversions and killing of Swami Laxiananda Sarawathi are main Cause for all this riot (similar to the Godhra Carnage in Gujarat). If the action can be prevented there will never be a reaction... !! Leaving aside the 'action' and probing the 'reaction' is nothing but answering the wrong question... Just for appeasement and vote-bank politics by COngress and other Pseudo-secular parties.

what happened before Kandhmaal and going on......... by Amit Purohit on 05 Jul 2009

Conversions is a contentious issue on the grounds that how are they done? But the biased reporters will present report like this only.It could have been like this also - Person fighting against christian convertors got elected and pay the price for this to be out on bail. this can happen in India only.Bcoz of the crooked congress and their psychophants.
