Faizabad BSP founder Kanshi Ram's brother Darbara Sahab will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Basti in Uttar Pradesh on a ticket of the Bahujan Sangarsh Party.

Party general secretary R C Varma said Sahab, the president of the party, will launch his poll campaign on March 15, the birthday of late Kanshi Ram, the founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party.

"We have requested our President to contest from Basti, to give a new light to the Dalit movement in Uttar Pradesh which has finished after the death of Kanshi Ram," Varma said.

Sahab hails from Khawas Pur village in Ropar district of Punjab and is the younger brother of Kanshi Ram.

Varma added that party has decided to field Ashtbhuja Pathak from neighbouring Dumariyaganj Lok Sabha seat.
