I respect Mrs. Karkare's decision in declining the offer of Modi. She has proven that Money is not everything in life. Her husband died in the performance of his duties and achieved martyrdom. Condolences! It has been a very sad experience for me, to watch the most efficient police officers (priceless in a country burdened with corruption) of the country lost to mindless violence. Mrs. Karkare has done the right thing by refusing the fund--I think the right fund would be to nurture police officers like Mr. Karkare, but not pay money for the services rendered. This incident should also serve as an example for the citizens to realize the need to force the politicians to enforce reforms in the police, as directed by the Supreme Court. Let us all come together, join hands in bringing change required to nurture police officers like Mr. Karkare. Let his memory be alive through the reflection of his values in the future police force.
