Kasab trained by Pak marines: Report

Posted: Jul 10, 2009 at 1536 hrs IST

New Delhi Muhammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone captured terrorists of the audacious Mumbai terror attack, was trained by Pakistan Marines, an elite unit of the Pakistan Navy.

In its latest issue, 'The Week' quoting Kasab's interrogation report by an intelligence agency said he and nine others who struck Mumbai last November were taught combat techniques by the Pakistan Marines after being extensively trained by the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) at its various camps.

The report said the terrorists underwent crash courses in surveillance, reading topographical maps, sniping positions, urban warfare and kidnapping.

The magazine also said Kasab's interrogators think that the terrorists could in "all possibility" have done a recce of the targets in Mumbai much ahead of the 26/11.

It said that a senior Research and Analysis Wing officer had said that Ismail, the leader of the pack, did the recce with the help of local elements.

Kasab told the interrogators that he and his comrades were taken to sea briefly in the initial stages of the intensive training programme.

"The acclimatisation drills continued for two months in two separate instalments. Nautical miles increased in time. And at a later stage, they were taught the specialised techniques in a 'built up' pool," the magazine said in a statement.

'India is alike child - distracted easily, but, can't forget it' by Ram on 13 Jul 2009

The news of PM going to Egypt should have been "India and Egypt forge new ties" or "India aligns in NAM post 26/11", but, what a distraction, that is Pakistan. Why don't you brilliant minds understand that, Pakistan will try to distract India and it has tacit help from our giant neighbour. Now, don't be naive to say you are going to say this loud and clear. Everyone knows whether India realises or not. India's current hope is to stay focussed on energy strategy, emission strategy and Internal growth, especially on sustainable education and small scale industry partnership. Not Pakistan or China or Kashmir should be her focus in any international event. If Pakistan can be discussed in NAM, India has agreed that, Kashmir is not bi-lateral, but, a cause with international dimension. That is the perception. Shanghai Cooperation, NAM and next what, Commonwealth games and Olympics? Have our strategic thinkers stopped thinking simple and clear.RamkumarUK

Minority Appeasing by Suchithra on 12 Jul 2009

Kasab will also get trained further being in custody for such a long time how to get pampered since he will be aware of this minority appeasing govt.

Pakistan and terrorism by parbhaker on 12 Jul 2009

Hi,For such a long time India has suffered at thehands of Pakistan's rulers.West ignored it andthey always will at their own peril.Don't makewest any more wiser because they know everything.Punish the rulers and not the public. The only thing just now is defend yourself and punishthe perpetrator.Pakistan is ingrained with violance and terrorism, not a recent thing,it'sbeen for a very very long tong time. They arestill recruiting the foreigners and training themto be the future terrorists. The west thinksthat they can buy them by giving more arms andmoney. Never for a long time they can see theresults. ISI and so many others are busy undoingeverything the rest of the world wants. The decent people in pakistan should start justspeaking about it and may be one day in 20 yearstime this will sink in that the whole world ismoving on and we are still holding on to thecenturies old ways to control humanity.

To Mr. Purohit by Krupa on 11 Jul 2009

Mr. Amit Purohit, it you had bothered to inform you properly then you would have noticed that two locals are already there in custody. The entire episode of barbarism was planned and executed by the pakistani army and our govt has been largley succesful in exposing it, partly due to the bravery of our police in capturing one of the terrorists alive and partly by some brilliant diplomatic manovering by the govt. Pakistanis were desperate to make this act of barbarism to look like planned and executed from India by Indian nationals and you seem to be doing your best in making them look right.

What a waste of time by our Indian puppet leaders by freddie (UK) on 11 Jul 2009

As long as we have a puppet govt at the centre there is no hope for India. Most of the Indian politican one leg is in the grave and have falls teeth, they are all afraid to speak to pakistan because are worried may be the teeth will fall off. Our govt is weak and have a corrupt and dishonest leaders even the army/navy/airforce will sleep until someone attack India, Buying of cheap weapons at a higher price and paying kickbacks and bofors scandal and so many others involved and we got a sleeping PM who is watching but can't do nothing because he is controlled by an Italian Mafias.

Time to get tough by Krupa on 11 Jul 2009

The report is a mere confirmation of what we have known all along. The Pakistani defense services are the biggest source of the terrorism in the world today. We have been shouting this from roof top for decades but the world did not listen. Now that their soldiers have started dying in the hoardes in Afghanistan, it is just a matter of time before they realise and take action. Its just a matter of time before this migrain called Pakistan is de-nuclearised, balkanised into four parts. Ever since Chidambaram became the home minister he has been doing an excellent job, especially compared to that incompetent Sivaraj Patil. Hopefully he will keep our defense services prepared for this eventuality.

Play the 40th symphony by Manohar on 11 Jul 2009

The poster Binoy it seems does not know the difference between Mozart and Mossad. So now RAW is going destabilise pak by playing Mozart's concertos and symphonies non stop at the Wagah border. Ha Ha Ha......

india was attacked by muslims invadors by muslimbhagawat on 11 Jul 2009

india was invaded by muslim invaders since time immemorials and the hindus of india were at receiving and always dues to lack of unity among them and their defense preparedness.the muslim rulers in north and west had termed india as SONE KI CHIDIYA .we are the last race on earth to be vanquished and liquidated very soon,if we would not save our race. Hindu is not a religion,it is a race.if we wouldn't be strong and unified we may not succeed in fighting these invaders.they are going to attack our country from pakistan borders via alqaeda, taliban and all other Muslim mujahideen.

Who is sensible? by naresh on 11 Jul 2009

The Defense Ministry should take time out and rethink it's policy towards Pakistan. Since a long time Pakistan has been torturing Indians with it's trained terrorists in which they spend much less on defense and more to train these good for nothing less than human creatures. As for defense they ask Uncle Sam for help. If only the Indian Defense Ministry turns it around and train jihadis to hurt Pakistanis and beat them at their own game. I guess the name Kashmir will be solved.

Pakistan need more evidence by kk on 10 Jul 2009

India can provide as many evidence to Pakis as it can but the response will be the same that there is something is missing and we cannot move forward unless Kashmir issue is solved. Pakistan have trained terrorists especially to torment Indian and have got away with it because of weak Indian response and worried about what the world would say and especially USA. American don't care about India as long as their demands are met by willing Pakis. India is surrounded by hostile neighbours and India has to be more aggressive like China to quell any hostile act against the national interest.

Pak Marines ????????????? by Intrepid on 10 Jul 2009

The question is whether the Pakistan Navy has a Marine unit. I am not sure they do!! Kasab, under intense questioning, if not physical torture, was coerced to comply with the Indian handlers and was probably forced to make a ludicrous statement about being trained by "Pak Marines". We do know that the "questioning process" is not governed by any legislated or other guidelines, especially in India and it's neighboring countries. Certainly it clearly becomes obvious that India and Pakistan, both heavily favor the idea of blaming each other for problems that in reality are their respective intellengence and security failures. For all it's business/economic developments, India remains mired in socio/ethnic troubles! Women continue to remain second-class citizens and members of other religions continue to suffer abjectly under a predominantly Hindu system !

Chanayak's Logic by Binoy on 10 Jul 2009

India did not strike back due to a couple of longterm strategic goals. Firstly, the strategy is to elimiate/divide pakistan and not to make a cosmetic move. The indian think tank is waiting for two things in the larger scheme of things, one of this is the missile defense sheild and the second is the permanent membership of UNSC. In the meantime, RAW-IB in collaboration with the Mozzart is destabilizing Pakistan through various covert opertations in Baluch, Sindh, Swat etc. We are also in control of most of the water resources flowing into PAK from Kashmir. Dams are being build in J

Do we want peace talks with Pak after 26/11? by Veliyam Sasi on 10 Jul 2009

General public in India are fully convinced and believe that Pak cannot be trusted at all. But our ruling class, under pressure from US, want to resume the so called peace process with Pak. We will appreciate if the rulers and those intelligentsia, who advocate resumption of peace process with Pak, shed their bulletproof jackets and black cat commandos back home and undertake a road march atleast through the streets of Lahore, instead of sending our cricketers as bali ka bakara every time in the name of 'goodwill'. Meantime people of india should be prepared for similar pak sponsored terrorist attacks in the future. Jai Hind.

Local Elements by Amit Purohit on 10 Jul 2009

During the operation of 26/11 and after the operation, the then MAharashtra Government and the central government were hand and glove with each other with the common motive of exonerating the locals participation in facilitating the attack. The guy who was left out to live by these murderers sent by Pakistan religious fundamentalists simply on basis of religion. But the motive of this governemnt headded by Manmohan Singh and remote controlled by Italian lady is to shield the local elements in all attacks of terror in their time and that occured in NDA rule on parliament.A typical example is Afjhal hanging and denial mode of shameless Chidamabram, spineless silence of Manmohan.I surprise that the same press that stamped Mr Rao as indecisive doesnt covers gross misuse and failure of MM Singh on issue of terror, ans his fake claims of transfoeming Mumbai to Shangai in July 2004,Amamrnath land issue. One sided journalism is a equivalent to a biased judiciary and politics.

Funny!!! by Reinhold Jaiwardne on 10 Jul 2009

All rubbish and crap. Indian media have nothing better than just putting blames on their neighbours. Srilanka and Pakistan have more evidenance than india that they are behind all this trouble in pakistan and tamil state of Srilanka. Most of ammunition is made by indian and being used by the terrorists in neighbouring countries.IBN-7 24/7 Breaking news.. India you need to grow-up now. These political parties just want to cash this crap to stay in the power else they have no better agenda.India is only trouble in the region, they have problem with everyone.

So what? by Ajay on 10 Jul 2009

So what? Pakis know it very well that Congress is a coward and spineless. All that will happen is one more dossier will go to Pakistan which will get trashed away.PM will again tell US and then the big brother US will ask for restrain!! not that the govt will do anything.Absolute bunch of cowards. That's what our govt is.

Only evidence no Action. by Umang on 10 Jul 2009

We have tons of evidence, but whats the use. Our inhuman politicians are only bothered about money making. Our leaders if you pay them they will start singing Pakistan National Anthem in our Parliament. I am sure even Pakis know, if they stage 100s of 26/11 type of attack. India will still not respond, the only response will be in form of Media statement. After few days of barking our politicians will go back to there dens.

If they trained then they should be proud of it for successful operation by Rakesh on 10 Jul 2009

If they trained then they should be proud of it for successful operation. But it looks like another false story.Pakistanis will keep hitting us till we resolve the issue of Kashmir. Our army recent case of raping two innocent kashmiri women also enlightened that.

a thought for indian by aizaz hussain on 10 Jul 2009

they are continouly blaming pakistan for this even though Pakistan asked them to give them details to help them identify the terrorist but the indian forces loose to do so they havnet returned the doc sent by Pakistan authorities regarding some questionn answers...other thing is that he is a man wearing safron band Muslims dont wear it nor it is some sort of any religious or cultural thing in Pakistan other then this he was speaking the local indian language forgot name of that but was too fluent in that language how can a foreigner be so much fleunt in other language..so to conclude Inian people should think about it their gov is just making them fool Indain gov tried to create 9/11 but failed ...

So whats new in State Sponsored Terrorism by Arvind Mathur on 10 Jul 2009

Pakistan is the perpertrator of state sponsored terrorism. Yesterday CNN reported that Pakis have been asking US for forcing India for concessions in Afghanistan and Kashmir in return for fighting in their Northern provinces. They should be rebutted with strength and forcefulness by India as there is no quid pro quo of what Pakistan does on it own terriory to stop what its agencies did to perpertrate terrorism in conjunction with the US - India has nothing to do with it and if they attempt to do anything - they will get it back as they have in the past.

Do we care ? by M on 10 Jul 2009

We know that Pak was involved. They deny it. Let's move on please. We need to protect ourselves not point fingers. Our security and gov let us down and will do so again.

Pakistan Marines trained terrorists by Dr. Paras Deo on 10 Jul 2009

It was already clear on 26 Nov 2008 that Pakistan Navy must have been involved in the terror attack. That is nothing new. But, to know the details as to how the Pak Navy or Pak Marines trained these low IQ killers is news. However, the Paks will again go into denial mode.

What ever evidence???>>> by Muralidharan on 10 Jul 2009

What ever evidence is there against Kasab the spineless party ruling in the state and in the centre will not react or act they are only bothered to make money for themselves by being in power by hook or crook and play upon with the minority votes.>> Jai Hind
