This footage is part of Dan Reed’s documentary broadcast on Tuesday night on UK’s Channel 4 television — it is a graphic account of the 60-hour long bloodbath that Kasab and his associates unleashed in Mumbai in November 2008.
During his questioning, Kasab almost begins to sob. The Lashkar emerges as a ruthless organisation, hiring and training impoverished Pakistani youth for its war against India. Kasab says his father told him “These people make loads of money and so will you. You don’t have to do anything difficult. We will have money. We won’t be poor any more.” His brother and sisters, he says, will be able to get married. And he “will go to jannat (heaven)”.
This video recording will not be accepted as evidence in court because Kasab has since retracted his statements, saying he made this confession under duress.
Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria today said they would check how the footage was obtained by the channel. ACP Tanaji Ghadge, who questioned Kasab at Nair Hospital shortly after he was nabbed, said: “I do not know how this footage was leaked to the media. I had passed on the footage to my superiors.”
Excerpts from the 2.34 minute-clip:
Police: Kitne logon ko maara (How many did you kill)?
Kasab: Pata nahin... bas aise chalate rahe, chalate rahe (Don’t know, simply kept firing)
Police: Kis ko maarne ke liye bataya tha (Who were you told to kill)?
Kasab: Logon ko (People)
Police: Aisa kitna operation kiya tum logon ne? Iske pehle kidhar kidhar kiya? (How many such operations did you carry out earlier? Where all?)
Kasab: Kidhar bhi nahin kiya... pehle kidhar bhi nahin kiya. Bolta hai bas karo aur mar jao... ek baari. Yahi bataya ki ye kaam tum logon ko karna hai. (Had never done any such operation. Was told to do it once and die. Was told we had to do this job)...
Police: Tumhara sangathan ka naam kya hai? Tumhara gang ka naam kya hai, team ka naam? (What’s the name of your organisation?)
Kasab: Haan... Lashkar-e-Toiba.
Police: Aaj ka kaam karne ke baad kidhar jaane waale thaey tum log (Where were you headed after this)?
Kasab: Marne waaley thaey (We were going to die)
Police: Kaise (How)?
Kasab: Woh bataya tha jannat mein jaoge (He told us we would go to heaven).
The documentary captures the nightmare at CST station, Cama Hospital, Leopold Cafe and focuses on the Trident hotel. Nine staff and three guests have been killed in the lobby.
“We have rounded up 15 people” a terrorist informs his handlers in Pakistan, “and moved them to the top of the hotel.” Later, ten of these were gunned on a staircase. As the terrorists were about to shoot a man from Turkey, his wife screamed: He is your brother, a Muslim. They separated three women, asked them to face the wall and shot them in their heads. The man from Turkey was angry, “I shouted kill me.” “No kill, you brother,” they replied. The man and his wife were allowed to go down the stairs full of bodies. “I never knew, blood was so slippery,” he says.
In Pakistan, the Lashkar commanders are in an almost celebratory mood. They ask “kee haal hai jee”. The terrorists in the Taj are struck by its grandeur and opulence. “There are computers with 30-inch screens,” they inform their handler. “Haven’t you set them on fire?” questions the boss.
The Nariman House horror also unfolds. The plan to take Rabbi Holtzberg and his wife Rivka hostage and secure the release of Kasab has failed. New instructions are passed from Pakistan: “Just shoot them now. Jaan chhuddao, don’t wait any longer, Insha Allah, Insha Allah. Sit them up. Shoot them in the back of head.”
The terrorist was obviously hesitating. The voice from Pakistan says, “Karen Bismillah.” Two loud shots are heard. “Did you kill them”, asks the voice from Pakistan. “Done,” replies the man on the spot. And then, filmed through a window, baby Moshe is seen wandering in the room where his parents lie dead.
Dan Reed’s film ends with a chilling warning. One of the Lashkar commanders is heard telling the terrorists in the Taj: “Tell them this is only the trailer... just wait till you see the rest of the film.”

Suddenly, I have this fantastic idea, do not know how you will take it. Now that the gays have their say legally, why not hand over Kasab to them for a few hours everyday till his fate is decided? Should serve every one right, eh?
Yesterday i watched Shashi Tharoor's interview in Times.Mr. Arnold was asking Tharoor, why government is talking to Pakistan after 26/11.Like usual dialogue "u cant not change your neighbours"These shameless ministers (especially congress) always wants to please Muslim voters. 80 percent of indian muslims if given a chance they will support Pakistan. It is high time to decalre India as a HINDU STATE and make "VANDEMATARAM"compulsary in all schools and madarasas. and all madarasas should have one Hindu teacher to supervise the activites in madarasas.

Still our shameless rulers will pamper the anti nationals in the name of secularism and waste crores of moneys of the majority Hindus on them. When will the people of India realise the danger of fundamentalists and their co horts who have been rubbing off and often the Babri Masjid and Gujarath one time manly reaction. The Channel 4 video documents, Pak does not need nukes to attack INDIA .On Mumbai attack - These guys on the other side of phone , in Pakistan are playing God to the 10 key elements, there pawn’s on the Mumbai carnage. These elements in Pakistan use money and name of God to exploit poverty and achieve there carnages in India. These heads who implemented Mumbai attack and the likes are still living free in Pakistan under govt/army protection and patronage. All in the name of GOD.
How far does mms walk now to meet his pakistani counterpart. Cannot understand with what face these non patriotic Indian politicians talk. Indian politicians are the most shame less and non patriotic. They are worried only of power and money. Aam aadmi is just in the slogan of upa and congress, where muslims are everything for them be it afzal there trump card or some one else. Congies and upa worry only about minority votes. India and Indians security is least for them.
As Indians lets abandon all Pakistan goods, prevent their actors/artists/musicians/cricketers from participating in all the Indo-Pak harmony programmes. Lets do a total boycott on all fronts. Its time that people from all communities in India realize its a war against our way of life and no GOD will approve of this. Satyagraha!!!
I watched the documentary and have to say the script doesn't convey the full horror. the handlers from Pakistan were so cold, and the interviews with the Turkish couple In Taj and the boy who lost all his family in railway station were gut wrenching
How can any people let their Government enter in to talks with Pakistan after reading the script in this story? Why is MMS going to meet with Gilani or Menon with Kasoori? What is wrong with us Indians? Where is Mr. Thackrey and why is he more worried about name of a bridge?
In India everything is possible if you throw money to the Indian beggers everything is possible. If the superior have leak the video action should be taken since they must have got something under the table. The world as seen the video and Pakistan says that kasab is not pakistan and after the proof of the video even the donkey will know from where the terrorist came from. Forget all that I would like to asked our PM what action as been taken against those killed during 26/11. MMS is waiting for answer since his remote control stop working because she is in Italy busy applying butter to rahul baba g/f family. If MMS can't take any action it is better for him to go to Himalayas and do meditation which will help him to open his mouth while he give speech, Most of the Indian politican are having falls teeth that is the reason are unable to speak loudly and boldly so that to give a fitting reply to Pakistan and USA.
