Though the scoreline does indicate the one-sidedness of the contest, it wasn’t so. Kaushik was at his best and employed terrific power to his forehand drives, but Karan did match him stroke for stroke.
What ultimately tilted the tie in Kaushik’s favour was his consistency, while on the other hand, Karan tried to outhit him and in the process committed a lot of unforced errors.
The Passi brothers Nikhil and Vishal , of Hansraj Morarji, made their school proud by beating Dhirubhai Ambani 2-1. The win, however, was not that facile for them as Dhirubhai Ambani’s lefthander Aashan Goghari once again almost brought them close to victory. But then he did not get support from his other teammates. He beat Vishal Pass 6-4, but they lost the second singles as Nikhil brushed aside Nikhil Lalwani 6-0.
The all-important doubles tie was pretty engrossing, which however virtually turned out as contest between two versus one with Aashan playing his heart out , but then the Passi brothers attacked their weak link and triumphed 6-4.
