Mumbai, March 12 After having won the Interport Cup in Singapore, the Kenkre Football Academy under-13 team is back on a jet plane, but this time it’s to Barcelona, Spain to participate in the 8th Mediterranean International Cup.

The tournament will be held at different locations in Spain from March 18-23. The world’s top 32 youth teams will be participating in the premier European tournament.

The founder of the club Adip Kenkre said, “Having started in 2000, we never thought of getting invitation to a tournament in Europe. Two years ago we went to Goa with the team and they did a fine job there. Last May, we went with the under-13 team to Singapore and won the Interport Cup beating teams like Arsenal Super Soccer School.” “We are taking one step at a time and have now decided to test the waters in Europe,” he adds.

He assured that his players would return more confident after the exposure at Barcelona. As the manager of the side, Joshua Lewis says, “Some of the future stars will be fighting it out there in the middle. Whether some of them will be from India, only time will tell.”

Some of the other top teams are: The national sides from Mexico and Brazil, RCD Espanyol, Lokomotiv Moscow, FC International Milan, Manchester United, Real Madrid CF, Athletico de Madrid, Arsenal FC, Ajax Amsterdam, FC Barcelona.
