Rupnagar, March 18 A number of corruption cases, being tried in the Court of Special Judge Rupnagar, have been transferred to the Court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge SAS Nagar, which was inaugurated today.

The cases registered with the Vigilance Bureau Flying Squad Police Station, SAS Nagar, involves personalities like the Badals, Agriculture Minister Sucha Singh Langa, former ministers Tota Singh, Sohan Singh Thandal and former PPSC chairman Ravinderpal Singh Sidhu.

It could not be immediately known if the state government has issued any notification to designate the Additional District and Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar, as Special Judge for the trial of the cases registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Meanwhile, Rupnagar District Bar Association president Sarabjit Singh termed the setting up of the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge at SAS Nagar as a hasty decision. He alleged that there was no adequate space to house the Court where it has been set up.

He said if Punjab and Haryana could have Joint High Court, why could Rupnagar and SAS Nagar not have Joint District Courts.
