The hearing, which lost some rhythm due to the transfer order, is scheduled to begin from June 18. The advocates associated with the case now feel that a judgment can be delivered within the next three to four months.
Bandhyopadhyay has already heard 138 witnesses and is in the process of hearing the last witness. Advocates working on the case say that Justice Bandhyopadhyay has every detail of the case on his fingertips. “After the transfer order, regular hearings were hampered,” said Nobo Kumar Ghosh, the public prosecutor of the case.
It was not only the government advocates who were unhappy about the transfer, but the lawyers of the accused as well as the accused themselves did not like it. A petition signed by the accused, including Aftab Ansari, was given to the Chief Justice requesting him not to transfer Justice Bandhyopadhyay.
