Kharga reservation service inaugurated

Ambala, February 19 Western Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen T K Sapru inaugurated the Kharga railway passenger reservation service at Kharga Utility Complex in Ambala Cantonment today. With this, rail reservation service will be available at the doorstep of soldiers and their families staying in the cantonment. Kharga Corps GOC Lt Gen VK Singh and senior officers of the cantonment were present at the inauguration.

Interacting with mediapersons, Gen Sapru stated that the services were made available at Ambala Cantonment by the Railways due to active support of East Coast Railway general manager AK Goel, Defence Ministry Director Q (Movement) Dr Alind Rastogi and Director Finance Ministry of Defence Dr DK Pandey.

He also thanked Ambala Railway Division DRM HK Jaggi and his staff for their cooperation in executing the project.

He said the project was first of its kind in the Western Command comprising states of Punjab, Haryana, J&K and parts of Rajasthan. DRM Jaggi said the service would be supervised by the Army in the beginning and later it would be taken over by the Railways. He said the Army had deposited Rs 5 lakh with the Railways to connect the passenger reservation services with the Railway Reservation Network. He further added that only 100 reservations would be provided at the service centre.
