Killer Blueline does it again, crushes 54-year-old man

New Delhi, January 23 The killer Blueline buses of the Capital has claimed yet another life. A 54-year-old man was crushed to death in Shahdara on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, Kishan Lal Verma, was waiting at the Shahdara bus stop, when the incident took place, senior police officers said. This is the seventh death this year by Bluelines.

Verma was waiting to catch a bus to go to his Krishna Nagar residence, when a speeding Blueline bus, plying on route number 319 (from Shahdara to Noida) hit him. Police said Verma came under the front wheels of the bus. Verma was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police said the driver of the bus tried to flee from the spot after the incident, but bystanders caught him and handed him over to the police. The driver has been booked under rash and negligent driving, officials said, adding that the bus has been impounded. Verma resided with his family in Ram Nagar in Krishna Nagar, officials said.

In a separate incident, a 35-year-old woman was hit by a Blueline bus in Rajouri Garden today. Police officials said the victim, Poonam Devi, is admitted in a critical condition at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

According to police officials, Poonam was crossing the road near Mayapuri Metal Factory when a Blueline bus plying on route 108 (from Hari Nagar to Nehru Vihar) hit her. The accident took place at 6.45 am. Poonam resides in Tihar Village with her family.

Police said the driver of the bus fled from the spot leaving the bus behind. The bus has been impounded and a case has been registered against the driver.
