Putting together a dazzling collection of over four-dozen outfits, each unique and offbeat, is no easy task, but there’s no one who does over the top better than Manish Arora. At his show for the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on Friday, Arora was spectacularly mad as usual, with his models clad in silver space masks, heavily padded shoulders, something akin to bulletproof vests, and wings on stilettos. Just when you thought the models were ready to take off and fly, the mood of the show changed. A glittering Mickey Mouse motif, decorated India Maharaja-style, made it to a very lovely dress, while a war scene with elephants, horses and a gold palace lurked in the background of a flaring white silk skirt. Arora’s detailing and embellishments continue to tell a story, a story that international buyers still buy.
