New Delhi, December 4: The Cricket Board on Tuesday brushed aside suggestions that Gary Kirsten is apprehensive about taking up the Indian coach's job because of a possible opposition from the senior players.

BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla dismissed reports that Kirsten has written to the Board, saying that he could not commit for the job until he found out the veracity of media reports claiming some senior players were unhappy with his appointment.

"It's all rubbish. Kirsten has written to Board President Sharad Pawar seeking some clarifications on certain terms and conditions in his contract. There is no question of him being apprehensive about the senior players," Shukla said.

He rubbished reports that the former South African batsman had delayed his decision because he wanted to find out first whether there was any opposition from the senior players.

"This is completely wrong. He had promised to get back to us by Monday which he did and things would be sorted out in the next few days once he receives those clarifications," Shukla explained.
