Know Bhojpuri? Obama asks Govt job aspirants!

Washington Regional Indian languages such as Bhojpuri and Haryanvi may not have made to India's Constitution, but they have made to an application form for selection to the political positions with the US government.

About 20 Indian languages have found a mention in the application form, brought out by Barack Obama administration for filling up thousands of political positions in the government's executive branch.

These are among 101 languages from across the world, listed in the form's 'international experience' section, where applicants have been asked to select those known to them.

The Indian languages mentioned in the firm also include as many as six -- Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Chhattisgarhi, Haryanvi, Magahi and Marwari -- that are not part of the 22 languages of India listed in the Eighth Schedule of Indian Constitution.

Other Indian languages listed in the form are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Maithili, Malyalam, Nepali, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

The form also asks the applicants to list out the countries where they have lived and the list includes India.

The Eighth Schedule of Indian Constitution lists 22 languages of India -- Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili and Santhari.
