New Delhi The arrest of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda by the Enforcement Directorate is "imminent" as the evidence against him for allegedly carrying out hawala transactions and illegal investments worth crores of rupees "is satisfying".

Sources in the Enforcement Directorate said the alleged documentary proofs and subsequent leads found against Koda and his associates will culminate in his arrest soon after his discharge from a hospital in Ranchi.

"It is (Koda's arrest) imminent. The evidence is satisfying," the sources said.

The sources said the information obtained from the seized documents and affidavits will have to be put across to Koda for further progress in the case, which can only happen after detailed questioning.

"Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the arrest takes place under section 19. Authorities from both Income Tax department and the ED are waiting for the medical reports of Koda and his subsequent discharge from the hospital," they said.

Meanwhile, the IT department officials are still carrying out the sealing exercises on the properties of Koda and his associates. The searches had begun on October 31. The ED is also preparing to send notices for production of documents and attendance in person against certain other associates of the former Jharkhand Chief Minister, they said.

Both the departments (IT and ED) will also initiate the proceedings for attachment of properties soon. Earlier the ED had served summons to Koda and his associates, for questioning them on alleged hawala transactions and investments.

Both the departments have started scrutiny of the documents related to alleged hawala transactions and investments running into more than Rs 2,000 crore by Koda and his associates.

The ED had filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (equivalent to an FIR) before the Prevention of Money Laundering Act court in Ranchi against the former CM, his cabinet colleagues Kamlesh Singh, Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Bhandu Tirkey besides five others.

india is infested by political parasites by raj on 06 Nov 2009

Everybody in India probably knows that more than 90 percent of Indian politicians are thieves and criminals. May they be corporators or M.L.A. or M.P.,they all have stolen public money and stashed trillions of dollars abroad. Most Indian politicians have their family members enter politics because this is the best way to get security and also to get super rich. The list of political crooks is endless. The solution to this problem maybe that the C.B.I. should be under and answerable only to the Chief Justice of India's Supreme Court. All persons and their family members whether dead of alive, who have held any kind of political office in India since the last forty years should be throughly probed by the C.B.I. and the income tax department. Those guilty of stealing money or involved in crime should be arrested and all the bank balances and properties should be attached to the national treasury. Money stashed abroad should be brought back.

MADHU KODA SCAM by NIRANJAN on 06 Nov 2009

FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT I HAVE SEEN, MADHU KODA IS CLOSE TO LALU. WHO COULD BE A BETTER TEACHER ON HOW TO DIVERT FUNDS AND MAKE BILLIONS THAN LALU OF THE BIHAR FODDER SCAM! HE WILL ALSO TEACH MADHU ON HOW TO GET AWAY WITH IT AND THEN BECOME A CENTRAL MINISTER!

ARREST OF MADHU KODA by NIRANJAN on 06 Nov 2009

WITH ALL THE REPORTS IN THE MEDIA THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NO DOUBT THAT HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED IMMEDIATELY ON SUSPICIAON OF WRONGDOINGS. BUT THE ARREST IS BEING DELAYED TO ALLOW ALL THE CONNECTED AND CORRUPT NETAs AND POLITICIANS TO DESTROY OR CHANGE THE EVIDENCE SO THAT ULTIMATELY, IF ANYONE, ONLY MADHU KODA MAY BE INDICTED AND THE REST OF THE CROOKS WILL ESCAPE. A SIMILAR CASE WAS TELGI'S WHEREIN TELGI PAID FOR ALL THE OTHER CROOKS. WHAT A COUNTRY, WHAT A SYSTEM!

Koda's arrest by Thomson Mathai, Rajkot on 05 Nov 2009

When politicians of all hues use the democratically elected mandate to swell their monetary fortunes by unlawful means, who has to stop such practices? Naturally the electorate. When electorates themselves are not sure what to do, why to make verbal noise? Why don't we all force the parties to give a clean administration by selecting clean people for the posts of MLAs / MPs. In this matter all parties are alike, the degree varies. Why don't we boycot such govts whichever state they rule? Mud throwing on each other only gives the media to cover such daily items as news. The sound bytes die natural tomorrow some other things make another loud noise. In Diwali you hear only the sound of crackers, fail to see the light and the message. In politics we hear of only corruption. Which party is different ? Can you name a single person who is behind the bars for corruption of office, especially of political class? We all Indians are a gang of thieves and the smarter among the lot survives!

Good Jokes to discussed for the ruling congress by freddie (Indian) on 05 Nov 2009

The ruling party (Congress) is jealous of the black money Koda as made and so they want their share. This is nothing but to put water in bush in front of the Indian Public. When wil handove a suite case with load of cash to MMS and his party all this black money scandal closed down as the weather changes. CBI will pay a big part in getting the money out for themselves. Everyone will try to get their share as soon as possible and Mr.Koda till then will living in 5 star prison for the time been. Corrupt politicians by MOHAN DADDIKAR on 05 Nov 2009

All poltical parties stand on the same level as regards corruption. If Sonia Gandhi could escape the grave charges of corruption in Bofors case, what prevents Koda and others of his ilk from coming out unscathed from charges levelled against him?

Koda by Kalpathy Venkataraman on 05 Nov 2009

Let Koda appoint Nalini Chidambaram as his defense attorney to deal with the ED, IT etc departments. All the cases will disappear just like the disappearance of fog in front of Sun.It is all a big drama in India. Every politician and babu knows that Koda has made thousands of crores through illegal means. Every one wants a piece of this pie. The raid is basically an arm twisting game to extract as much money as possible at individual level from Koda so that it will be a win win situation for everyone. The exchequer is not going to get a single dime from this proceedings. After two years, everything will be forgotten as we will be hearing many more scandals which may dwarf this one. Compared to Koda's loot, Bofors is very tiny. I believe, Karunanidhi must be sending his special emissaries to Koda to find out what went wrong so that he can cover any loop holes in his plan. Birds of the same feather will definitely flock together. Kudos to Indian Democracy.

Koda's arrest by MOHAN DADDIKAR on 05 Nov 2009

If at all he is arrested, in no time he will be granted bail as per judicial process in our country. Not only that, but be sure that Koda will be given a hero's welcome by the voters of Jharkhand! He is sure to be elected by a greater majority.

A priceless exhibition by George P. Joseph on 05 Nov 2009

If elections are again declared to be carried out in every Indian States, people could expect to see the unmasked faces of Political Leaders who stands against the interests. By this purification process people can also see the expressions without shining in every party. A priceless exhibition for the general public for the money collected by the Politicians similar to Mr. Koda.

Madhu Koda - the fallen guy by V.Muthuswami on 05 Nov 2009

The news came in just as many are getting resigned to divorce hope from the prospects of any decent rule of law in our wonderland. Even so, many know Koda is just a fallen guy and lost his use. How about so many other Kodas still happy doing what they are good at and being protected illegally and unashamedly? When will our democratic rule of law can claim to become equal for all? Jai Ho!
