New Delhi JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswany on Tuesday night met Congress president Sonia Gandhi sparking speculation of realignment of political forces but he insisted it had nothing to do with national politics and his party was

not leaving the Third Front.

"There is no question of leaving the Third Front... That question does not arise. We are in Third Front and will be in Third Front," he told a press conference after meeting Gandhi.

The former Karnataka Chief Minister, who hid his face while entering Gandhi's 10, Janpath residence to avoid the media, insisted his meeting with the Congress chief was in connection with certain issues relating to his state Karnataka and had nothing to do with national politics.

He said he had "explained" to CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and CPI leader D Raja why he met Gandhi.

I am a former Chief Minister. I can meet anyone," Kumaraswamy said adding he had met Gandhi on a request from some "Congress friends".

"Anyone thinking that JD(S) will leave the Third Front is living in fool's paradise," he said when repeatedly asked whether he and his party would remain in the Third Front even after May 16, the day votes are counted.

He said JD(S) would abide by whatever decision the Third Front takes. Third Front is emerging stronger and stronger," Kumaraswamy claimed.

Kumaraswamy said he had also briefed his father and JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda on his discussions with Gandhi.

"Neither Congress has any expectations from us nor are we expecting anything from Congress as we are in the Third Front," he said.

He said people should vote for Third Front candidates during tomorrow's polling in 86 constituencies.

Kumaraswamy, however, was at pains to explain hiding of his face while entering the Congress President's residence.

He claimed he put his hand on his face because he was "sweating" (in his Mercedes car).

He said he had met Gandhi before elections also. When pressed by reporters to explain the meeting, the JD(S) leader said he was not answerable to the media as to why he met Gandhi. On the timing of the meeting, he said it was an "auspicious" occasion.

Asked whether he discussed the issue of dismissing BJP government in Karnataka, Kumaraswamy dismissed it as "immature" talk. At the same, time, he said all parties need to "cut BJP's impact". He also claimed TRS had "clarified" that it was still with Third Front.

Corrupt Congress OUT – Nationalist BJP INIndia needs a strong nationalist party BJP to govern India. Our international relations are at all time low. This country is surrounded by enemies. Pakistan, Bangladesh, China. Relations with Srilanka and Nepal have taken U turn now. Our strongest ally Russia is keen to gel with China then us. All we have is business relations with USA (in favour of USA) and thats it. MMS government is feeling proud of Nuclear deal and ignoring everything else. The situation inside the country is worst than even. Maoist and ULFA in north-east, Orissa, Karnataka, Nepal etc. J

Unethical (True) Leader(Is he ?) by Voter on 13 May 2009

Yeah.. We still remember how he kept his word when he was expected to transfer power to Mr. Ediyoorappa. He is young and has good intentions. If he keeps his ethics, he will have a long career. If he continues to make such unethical moves for small bargains, Everyone knows where to keep him next time.

JDsecular) by MOHAN DADDIKAR on 13 May 2009

To call JD(S) a political party is in inself a big joke. It should be named as a gang of opportunists led by Deve Gouda the most immoral politican in India. Congressmen know that he can be relied upon to support UPA ( inspite of his feigned reluctance at present) if he is adequately rewared for his support in cash or kind.

GOWDA FAMILY by Palengri on 13 May 2009

After all Devegowda and his family come from a poor farmers family. They are not power hungry or want power. Their interest is only farmers welfare and if farmers welfare is taken care automaticaly their interest both personally as well as politically is taken care. But how you will acheive this? You have to have power. Once you hav epower Cocodile tears now coming out for the poor farmers cause will have more credibility. That is what they are trying.Gowda family is known for back stabbing for ages from Mr Ramakrishna Hegde to the present days.It is pity that that JNU products and intellectuals like Karat, Yahury all go after this poor farmer for consutancy and guidance.

Kumaraswami's meeting Sonia by santhanam on 13 May 2009

Devegowda and Kumaraswami are modern Brutos - they do not follow any basic principle - Father and Son ditched Congress in Karnataka by usurping CM's chair for his son by alinging with BJP and later when he was to hand over power to BJP, he again ditched them and branded them as communalists. Devegowda wants to position himself as a possible PM Candidate - Left should learn a lesson from this backstab. Devegowda may ask a cabinet berth for his son - Mining portfolio so that he can nationalize Bellary mines (to teach Mine Mafias). Sonia/congress are falling into their trap - it seems congress is desperate to get any allies to make up the tally- when MK was praising LTTE/Prabakaran in her presence in their joint meeting at Chennai recently, there was no protest from congress side - while MK spoke in Tamil, there were many congress leaders from TN on the stage, who swallowed this humiliation. Let us hope for the best after May 16.

Himalayan lies by Ram on 13 May 2009

1) Deve Gowda said in an interview that he was ill and did not know that Kumaraswamy has aligned with BJP to share power in the state. He said he is totally unaware that JD(S) and BJP have alliance.2) The 3rd front was inaugrated in Tumkur with much fanfare to fight Congress and BJP. During the elections, JD (S) left some constituencies to Congress and did not put up candidates. Why to show to the Karnataka people that JD (S) is fighting against the congress and now knocking the door at Sonia's residence ?The Karnataka people have already punished the JD (S) once for betraying the BJP and the JD (S) frauds can never rise up again.

THE GOWDA FAMILY OF HASAN--KARNATAKA by Rajesh Vyas on 13 May 2009

The treacherous folks are at it again. On one hand, H D DEVE GOWDA is the convener of the So called Third Front and on the other he has started dismantling it even before the poll results are out. Sonia will be committing HARAKIRI by seeking support of such unprincipled politiciand who will stoop to any depths for the sake of power. We are indeed an unfortunate country where people have to put up with the likes of H D DEVE GOWDA and family.

Gowda and Son .. Shame of Karnataka ! by Aniyan on 13 May 2009

Why should a politician, that too a former CM, cover his face while going to meet Sonia? Was it a 'filmi thamasha' or fooling the people. If there are shameless politicians in the souther states, they are none, other than Deva Gowda and his Son Kumaraswamy. This Son and father crosses all the limitations of political honesty and 'dharma' and continue to cheat the good people of Karnataka. Janata Dal (Secular) as they call, does it match with any of their actions in recent times? Karnataka is a State, which produced good personalities like VV Giri, Devraj Urs, Ramakrishna Hegde etc. Why this Son and father tarnish the image of the state, in their lust for power ? Only people and elected representatives of the State could answer this.

SECULARISM TARNISHED by B.N. Mandhar Gurdaspuri on 13 May 2009

Non-secular criminals hide their faces from media as did Kumaraswamy of JD(S)party while entering 10 Janpath.Thieves hide their faces before facing the court as did Kumaraswamy while entering the 10 Janpath court.Non-secular forces have no place in Indian polity or the country. While in Ludhiana election rally on 10th May,2009,P.M. said Nitish is not secular because he attended NDA rally at the same place. The fact is that Congress party president and prime minsiter including all congress leaders are not secular because they have defied all efforts to implement Art.44(Common Civil Code for India) to appease non-Hindu community. They played trick with Preamble on 26.7.1976 by adding word 'secular'therein because Preamble is like a first cry of Sovereign Democratic Republic of India newly born on 26.1.1950(27 years later).EVEN GOD CANNOT CHANGE,MODIFY THE FIRST CRY OF THE NEWLY BORN CHILD. HOW COULD CONGRESS PRIME MINISTER DO IT AND MEDIA WAS SILENT AND DUMB-FOUNDED.SHAME FOR MEDIA TOO.
