Kumble was unable to contain his fury after his team were beaten by 122 runs in a thrilling and controversial end to one of the most absorbing matches ever seen at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Asked by Indian journalists about Australia's tactics, Kumble echoed something similar to the immortal line used by the Australian captain Bill Woodfull during the 1932-33 Bodyline series against England.
"Only one team was playing with the spirit of the game," Kumble said.
He also said he was prevented from elaborating on his specific complaints about the Australian players but indicated he was upset at the refusal of their batsmen to walk when they were clearly out.
The Indians were on the wrong end of a number of bad umpiring decisions throughout the course of the match but the most crucial occurred on the first day when Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds was given not out by West Indian umpire Steve Bucknor.
Symonds, who later admitted he had nicked the ball and should have been sent packing, was on 30 at the time but went on to make 162 not out and help Australia recover from a batting slump to make 463.
"We like to play hard on the field and we expect that from Australia as well," Kumble said.

It is shocking to read some of the comments here. Cricket is a game where one player can turn the game on its head. It is true that some of the Indian batsmen did not do well. But so many decisions went against them. Any one of them if gone the right way is capable of changing the outcome. If the aussies are as good as they claim to be why is it so hard to keep their mouth shut when they play ? They complain when others talk but its ok to let your mouth loose ? Cowards ! Can't handle when they get back what they receive. Everything becomes important when they loose but everything is cool and you gotta suck it up when they win. India lacked some fast accurate pacers. Guys like RP Singg and Zaheer Khan are good in their respective areas but they are not geniune pacers who can threaten a formidable batting line up. To beat the aussie you need to have enough destructive ammunition. Ofcourse the Indian batting always flatters to deceive!

Every game is played on the basis of a fair ,logical outcome,but the test matches played in Australia is focus on Bias,unfairness,prejudices both by the incompetant umpires and the Aussie team.Its a shame Australian team have resorted to such low mentality and lost their focus on sportsmanship and valour.Aussie team is strong,well motivated,they didnot have to resort to such mean ness.
Australians are not sportsmen. They do not have professionalism. They cheat the other teams with the help of umpires. Ponting clearly bluffed and made Ganguly wrongly out. It is surprising that the umpire asked Ponting to decide whether Ganguly is out or not. Buckner would have made century by now by making 100 wrong decisions against India speciallly against Sachin. India should have walked out of the field on the first day itself when the umpires did not give out to Hayden and symonds. Or at least they should have done this when Dravid was declared illegally out. With due respect to Kumble, I would request him to calm down and take a deep look into the present world of cricket. There was a time when few batsmen used to walk out if they knew they were out but the umpires decided otherwise. Those were the days when Sport was bigger than Money. Atleast Symonds admitted that he was out. I am sure none of your batsmen would even dare do that due to the fear of BCCI and the endorsement money. I can understand the frustration, but it is better to accept that a monster called MONEY has beaten the sport factor. If all your players play for the sake of SPORT and not money, I am sure India would win almost every match.
