New Delhi, December 6: Test cricket captain Anil Kumble has become the latest 'bank-able' cricketer to be signed up by a financial services firm to add to its brand value.

Kumble has been signed by ING Vysya Bank as new brand associate, the institution said on Thursday, adding that he is a "mature and thinking cricketer" and thus "appropriately" fits its brand.

Kumble joins the ranks with his former Test captain Rahul Dravid, current ODI captain M S Dhoni as well as two former captains Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev for being associated with a financial services institution.

The Indian team's bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad has also been associated with a banking brand, while sportspersons endorsing this industry also include tennis star Sania Mirza.

All of these people are big names on Indian sports arena.

"Anil Kumble is without doubt India's greatest spinner of all times and has been a match winner repeatedly in different formats of the game at the highest level. Trained as a mechanical engineer, Kumble has put his virtues of precision and accuracy in bowling to telling effect on the field," ING Vysya Bank said in a statement.

"Anil's achievement on the field stands out and therefore appropriately fits the brand ING Vysya Bank, which is in the midst of significantly scaling up its business pan-India," the bank's managing director and CEO Vaughn Richtor said.

"He is known as a mature and thinking cricketer, with consistency being the hallmark of his performance," the bank said.

Currently, Bank of Baroda is already cashing in on the 'dependable' image of former captain Rahul Dravid in its advertisements, while non-banking financial services firm GE Money has 'swashbucking' Dhoni endorsing its brand.

Germany's Deutsche Bank has tennis sensation Sania Mirza holding the brand fort for it in India, while Aviva Life Insurance has master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. In addition, former fast bowler Prasad has been associated with Canara Bank and Kapil Dev with Birla Sun Life.
