Malik said, “I was not a participant. I was the sole speaker from the state, and attended the seminar to share my experience in the arrest of a local which eventually led to the busting of a national fake currency network recently.”
He said a Pakistani national of Indian origin had brought fake Indian currency to the face value of Rs 24 lakh and was planning to use the Karachi-Mandvi sea route for smuggling in fake notes in the future.
He said special teams had arrested persons involved in the racket from across the country. He said that information provided by the police officials in Kutch led to the arrest of three key players involved in the racket in Hyderabad
Malik said the fake currency notes were of two kinds, photocopied varieties and machine printed ones. He said that while the former could be easily identified, the latter were difficult to detect.
