LMC invites PMCs to develop 228 city parks

Ludhiana, March 8 The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) has invited applications from various Park Management Committees (PMCs) to develop as many as 228 parks across the city. The MC has received 161 applications from PMCs for the upkeep of the city parks.

The LMC officials held a meeting with the representatives of the PMCs in the committee room of the Guru Nanak Stadium here today. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mayor Hakam Singh Giaspura and was attended by LMC Commissioner Vikas Pratap, Assistant LMC Commissioners Vinod Sharda and Amarjit Singh Sekhon, Horticulture Executive Engineer JS Bilga, Deputy Mayor Sunita Aggarwal and the representatives of the Park Management Committees (PMCs).

Assistant LMC Commissioner Amarjit Singh Sekhon said the LMC has sent letters to various PMCs in the city. He said those PMCs that are inactive should become active again.

LMC Commissioner Vikas Pratap appealed to the representatives of the PMCs to devote more time for the upkeep of their parks. He said every PMC should have at least two or three women members. He said it would be ensured that the payments to PMCs are made on time. He said payments to the PMCs would be made through e-banking for faster payment.

Mayor Hakam Singh Giaspura appealed to the representatives of the PMCs for making the city clean and green by maintaining the city parks.

The representatives of the PMCs said that for encouragement, competitions should be conducted for the best maintained parks.

They said that the water shortage should be dealt with and every PMC should not be allotted more than 5,000 square metres area for maintenance.
