Chandigarh, February 10 In a meeting of the executive committee of All India LPG Distributors Federation, the shortage of Domestic LPG in the city and its consequent repercussions thereof were discussed.

According to a press note issued after the meeting, it was stated that oil companies like Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum have reduced supply of domestic LPG to distributors, as it is a subsidised product and are make profits by supplying it for other purpose besides the domestic use. The distributors claimed that with the companies reducing the supply, the general public was feeling harassed. It was further stated that oil companies should properly assess the growth in domestic sector of LPG consumers and its uses before fixing the monthly demand of their respective distributors so that there was no shortage of the product in the market.

Meanwhile, the federation has decided to meet the oil companies on Monday. It stated that in case no decision was reached, it would observe a strike on February 13 as a mark of protest.
