The body of Sunder Singh was decomposed beyond recognition and it seemed that it was hanging for about a week. Someone saw it today and informed the police. His identity card helped in his identification.
LPU authorities had filed a police complaint on November 14, when Sunder did not report at his hostel situated on Nakodar Chowk.
His hostel mates said he had come back from college after 5 pm on November 14 and left saying that he was going to buy some books.
SHO Paramjit Singh of Jalandhar Cantonment said the boy, who belonged to Mewat in Haryana, could have committed suicide. He, however, added that the exact cause of death could be told only after post-mortem.
He said the case would be registered after the post-mortem report is received tomorrow and the family members have been informed.
Aman Mittal, Head, Corporate Relations, LPU, said Sunder was a serious student. He added that they had reported to the police the day boy went missing. He added that his family members also did not report anything unusual about him.
Within six days, two students of LPU have been found dead under mysterious circumstances. On last Saturday, 21-year-old MSc (mathematics) student Vishaldeep was found dead in the bathroom of her hostel room in Phagwara. However, it was found to be a natural death as per the post-mortem report.
