"It (India) must stop all military assistance given to Sri Lanka, remove the ban on our movement and recognise our struggle. I like to point out that our movement and our people are true friends of India," LTTE political head B Nadesan said in an e-mailed interview to the India based "The Week" magazine from an undisclosed location.
Asserting that the LTTE Supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran was in "excellent" health, he said the outfit was in favour of a ceasefire and peace talks but claimed that Sri Lankan government is keen on a military solution.
"The (Sri Lankan) government and military chiefs insist on a military solution while we have been saying that a solution can be reached only through ceasefire and peace talks," Nadesan said.
"If the Sri Lankan government continues to believe that an ethnic issue in a country can be solved by a military solution alone, it will only lead to the oppressed ethnic people achieving their aspirations with help from other countries," he said.
On the health condition of Prabhakaran, Nadesan asserted that he was in pink of health and was leading the current war against the Sri Lankan forces.
"Our leader is in excellent health and is leading the current war. The comments (that he will not live long) is an expression of the hatred for the Tamil people and our movement," he said in the interview.
Nadesan said whenever the Tamils in Northern Sri Lanka had faced "miseries" at the hands of Sri Lankan military, "the people of Tamil Nadu have expressed their support, beyond their political differences."
To another query, he said the Sri Lankan government and military chiefs have openly claimed that the Indian government has been giving them military assistance.
"The Indian government is silent over this comment. This is indeed an issue that saddens the Tamils, people in Tamil Nadu, and Tamils all over the world."
On Sri Lankan army chief Sarath Fonseka's recent comments in an interview to an overseas paper, that Island country was a Sinhala majority nation, Nadesan said "this shows that he is an irresponsible and immature military chief."
"I strongly believe that this country belongs to the Sinhalese but there are minority communities and we treat them like our people," Fonseka had said.
In reply to the offensive on the Northern areas by the security forces, Nadesan said "our homeland has been subjected to a severe economic blockade for many years. The current military action has displaced Tamils and many are living in forests."
"The (Sri Lankan) government is intent on brutally oppressing a group of people who are waging a struggle for their rights. Sadly, the media does not bring this out. I view this as a great human tragedy of the 21st century," he said.

LTTE made a blunder mistake which is the brutual assassination of Rajiv Ghandhi. I thought LTTE was a brave but now they behave like cowards. They should not seek the help of India. Instead a brave suicide is enough for Vellupilla Prabhakaran.

As a Tamil, We are proud to be a part of India. We can proudly say that we are living in the worlds largest democratic country. Here in India, a Tamil can become a central minister for Transport, Information technology, Finance and so on. Soon a day will come, where a Tamil could become the defense minister of India. It is indeed the right of all Sri Lankans, Tamils included, to live in peace, expect fair treatment and to prosper. But LTTE's demand for a separate homeland within the present geographical boundaries of Sri Lanka is not a formula that the Sri Lankan government can or should agree to. "True Friend of India". What a joke. LTTE is a terrorist organization. They introduced th world to suicide bombing and they are indeed the most efficient terrorist organization in the world. Except the geography of the country, the lack of support from India and the determination of the Sri Lankans this timearound hassealed their fate. India should simply keep out of it. i am a sri lankan who recently moved to the US. tamils and sinhalese people coexist in the city peacefully and both parties are fed up of this war. we are in a recession with high inflation because of this mess. why dont you do something constructive for the greater good of the country rather than try to split this island into 2? it will never happen so stop trying. i've had tamil friends since my childhood. so has my father. if you ask any tamil in colombo what they think of the ltte you will find out they want nothing to do with them. people in the north might be oppressed but what do you expect living in war torn territory?? 5 star luxury accomodation? and the ltte need to stop hiding around civilian areas since when the army targets them innocent civilians get hurt! next thing you know theres an article saying sl army kills innocent people! no more unfair guerilla tactics. if you want to fight..then fight clean.

I am an Indian Tamil and I must say that LTTE is a 100% terrorist organization. Yes, SL tamils need rights but LTTE killed all opposing SL Tamil leaders in Chennai!! And then Rajiv Gandhi. After LTTE is defeated then we can exert pressure to ensure Tamils are treated properly within one SL nation. LTTE is NOT the answer.
The danger to India is not from LTTE, but danger is from subtle cooperation between fake allies like Sri Lanka. SL is working against India's interest in aligning with China (Hey both are buddhist comarades!). India need to be aware of that, and cultivate appropriate friends. Having a tamil buffer place in northern srilanka will be a bargaining chip - Do not wait until SL allows Chinese missile bases in its soil to threaten India (This will happen - look at Gwadhar, look at Chinese cooperation with Myanmar, Bangladesh). Befriend the tamils of SL, Save them from Extinguishing, they will help India when in danger. History is not static, LTTE made a mistake by killing Rajiv to avenge "Indian Tamil Raping force". But for the sake of "India's secure border" we need to cultivate Tamils/LTTE as a hedge against potential SL siding with China. If by chance that happens, Tamils in SL will help India have a base there. I hope India will be proactive and intelligent at least this time.
