Chidambaram had reportedly remarked at a public meeting in Nagercoil on Saturday that the LTTE continued to operate in the state and asked the government to "nip the issue in the bud".
Reacting to the remark, Karunanidhi wrote in the DMK mouthpiece, Murasoli, that "our government will not certainly allow the LTTE to operate from Tamil Nadu".
He said 11 LTTE men were arrested and 12 cases registered against them during the last 20 months of the DMK rule. As many as 92 LTTE supporters were arrested and 40 of the arrested were detained under National Security Act.
"Is this not a proof that we have nipped in the bud the LTTE activities in the state", he asked.
On Congress MLA C Gnanasekaran's remarks in the state assembly that the intelligence wing of the Tamil Nadu police had to be vigilant against LTTE men, Karunanidhi said the same Gnanasekaran had praised the "Q" branch police, which functioned under the intelligence wing. "It is surprising to note that he does not know this", he said.

It is a fact many Indians sympathise for the Sri Lnakan Tamilians, including me. Please take note I id not say LTTE. It is a shame we send IPKF to supress the genuine rights of theirs in their own home land. The IPKF failure is reason Indian govt is supporting the brutal Rajapakshe govt. India is a democratic country and peoples will will prevail. By the way Congress cannot prevent the Maoists from striking prisons and police station. Pakistan trained terrorists were practising in the jungles of Karnataka... the list is endless. What the heck are the India govt capable of????

We do not trust Karunanidhi. Remember he is the man who read out an impassioned poem eulogizing the LTTE commander for his bravery who was recently killed in military operations. The fact is that Tamilnadu is at present the training ground of LTTE militants and the conduit for supply of lethal arms to LTTE in norther Sri Lanka and this has the tacit support of the DMK Government. The Coast Guard need to be extremely vigilant to see that no unauthorized vessels are seen in Indian waters and those intercepted are targeted and sunk. Likewise, the activities of DMK ministers at the Centre, particularly Baalu, need to be kept under strict watch by RAW, Military Intelligence and Coast Guard.
There is no meaning in Karunanidhi just talking and saying he has arrested 11 LTTE terrorists. What about the 11,000 terrorists he is freely allowing to roam in Tamil Nadu? What about encouraging Thirumavalavan to keep making speeches supporting the LTTE terrorists? Congress and Sonia are also party to this. Why is Sonia keeping mum? Forget the fact LTTE killed a Prime Minister of India; does she not know that Rajiv was HER HUSBAND? P. Chidambaran was obviously seething inside, and his feelings must have come out. But, immediately, Sonia has ordered Abhishek Singhvi to say that there is no LTTE in Tamil Nadu ! What non-sense!
The terrorists such as Karuna operate more freely in India than Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
Why all the so-called Brahmins- Jayalalita, Chidambaram, Subramanium Swamy etc, of TN against Tamils of Sri Lanka? We have never heard these so-called Brahmins ever talked about the plight of Lakhs of Tamils of Sri Lanka, who has become homeless and living as refugees in different countries. I am not a Tamil, but fully support DMK and other Tamils parties for supporting the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils. I don't support partition of Sri Lanka, but Tamils grivences must be genuinely addressed by the Sri Lankan govt. There is only political solution to this issue, not military bombardments. Sri Lanka is complicating the issue by bombarding and killing innocent Tamils. I have seen the suffering of Tamil refugees. Those have not, they will not understand the suffering of others.
Mr. vidhur, It is simple, showing that you are still a child in politics, as they would talk if they are kashmiri pundits. Please learn that this how India operates. The other possibility is that these tamils may be called as Hindus (they are 90%), then this Su. samy and company will shout as they did when Malaysin Citizen Hinuds were JUST TEAR GASSED. That's the beauty of India. Anyway, learn to live like that as thta's the case with Tamils...
Why are you making this a caste issue? Why do you care so much about Tamilians in Sri Lanka? Where is your compassion for the suffering of our own Indians in Kashmir? Where is your compassion for millions of poor Tamilians in Tamil Nadu.Note: I am not a Brahmin!
Why caste word hurts so much? I purposely put it to see the reactions. It is the so-called Brahmins practice castism and show their supremacy over others. Why so-called Brahmins need to identify themsleves by saying I am a Brahmin, Tamilian Brahmin, Keralite Brahmin and so on? Why they keep barking like street dogs? Castism is racism and insult to human dignity. Unless castism goes, untouchability will not go.
I agree with you although i don't want to mention my caste at least after what you said is MEANINGFUL. If I read between the lines from your posting: It looks as if our guilt plays that we will and have been objecting to whatever other communities do. It is true to an extent their is common agenda and that is object whatever karuna does and support whatever JJ Amma does. good point. I take back my word that you are NOT a novice in politics...
I think Karunanidhi is creating a smoke screen by saying that LTTE will not be allowed to hv a free run in Tamil Nadu. It sounds similiar to what President Musharraf of Pakistan says about Jaishe or Hizbul Mujahiddin. Lets face it India is meddling into the affairs of Srilanka same as Pakistan is doing in Kashmir.
No one bothers LTTE issue in Tamilnadu. When there are lot of other matters of concern congress blows out for an useless cause.why do'nt Mr.Chidambaram talk about farmers' suicides...?
