Patna Accusing Lalu Prasad of misleading the nation on the issue of Railway profits during his tenure as minister, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said the RJD leader had been "exposed" and should apologise to the country.

"From Prasad's claim of the Railways achieving a cash surplus of Rs 90,000 crore to (Railway Minister) Mamata's disclosure of cash surplus of around Rs 8,000 crore in hand after she took over charge at Rail Bhavan, the jugglery of figures in the budget with respect to the profits is amply evident," Kumar told reporters in Patna.

Kumar said that he had always wondered how a man who "ruined" Bihar for 15 years was "doing exceedingly well" on becoming the railway minister and receiving appreciation from even the prime minister.

Alleging that Prasad had "hoodwinked and misled" the nation and the people, Kumar, a former railway minister, said it was "the biggest-ever offence" committed by any public servant in office since Independence.

"Prasad owed an explanation to the nation and people," Kumar said, adding the RJD supremo should apologise to the nation.

"A person who earned laurels and sobriquets of being a management guru and was invited by several management institutions in India and abroad for lectures for hollow claims of the turnaround by the Railways stands exposed now," Kumar claimed.

LALU by NIRANJAN on 12 Jul 2009

LALU SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO BIHAR FOR 15 YEARS OF MISRULE IN BIHAR, INSTALLING RABRI ON THE BIHAR 'THRONE' AND THE FODDER SCAM. THEN HE SHOULD BE SENT TO JAIL FOR ALL THE CORRUPT PRACTICES. HIS IN-LAWS SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED IN THE SAME CELL. OF COURSE RABRI SHOULD BE IN WOMEN'S JAIL.

Rule of law by Ananda Murti on 11 Jul 2009

For fudging the accounts of Satyam Computers Co, Mr. Ramalinga Raju has been jailed. Mr.Lalu Prasad committed exactly similar offense by fudging the accounts of Railways, but he is enjoying freedom. Mr. vzarun Gandhi was jailed and is still being harrassed for his alleged remarks against a community. Almost exactly simmilar remarks against the majority community were made by Mr. Srinivas, president of AP Congress committee, but he enjoys full freedom with covetd positions. This is the rule of law in our country. Jai Ho!

Lalu should apologise to the nation: Nitish by Derek on 11 Jul 2009

I agree that if Lalu has lied, he should be punished. In the same way all the ministers and elected officials too should be tried as I would like to know one elected person who has delivered what was promised and how much money was pocketed by them in the course "of their duty". I wouldnt be surprised if not one elected official will pass this test.

laloo exposed! by R.S Gadasalli on 10 Jul 2009

Dear Sir,laloo prasad was fooling the people in the fodder scam for crores of rupees. He he has been the darling of the media as he has the knack of coming out with outrageous statements and jokes. he got away after talking filthy indescent speeches against nitish, got away by telling the crowd that he would drive a road roller over the chest of varun gandhi if he ever came to Bihar etc.As nitish states, he had fooled bihar for fifteen years and now he has fooled India for the past six years. Now he may ask the govt to sack all the beuracrats who helped him with railway budgets etc. what shame!

Lalu misled the railways by Eternal Truth on 10 Jul 2009

If you have noticed, Indian Railway earns majority of its profits through freights. The railway tracks have a definite capacity to carry the load, if the freight carrying boggies are overloaded, they would damage in track in few years.Thats exactly Lalu's self claimed profits come into picture. He increased the limit of weight that a boggie can carry by 100-150%. Hence, in the span of next 5 to 10 years, Indian railways would be required to incur very heavy expenses in replacing the tracks or prepare for rail accidents.

railway budegt surplus by krisnha kumar sharma on 10 Jul 2009

Why should only be Lalu held responsible for this misleading claim?. It should be head of the UPA-I government should appolozise to the nation for allowing this wrong information to the countrymen from our parliament premises. It is the responsibity of the head of the government that all the ministers should give correct information to the fellow parliamentarians and the people of this country from the premises of the parliament.I donot know if UPA-II has that courage to own this wrong.kks

Dishonest Politicians ! by Arrvind on 10 Jul 2009

Almost all politicians , irrespective of party affiliations , are crooks , corrupt and dishonest whether they are in ruling or opposition camps. That have all been fooling gullible public who hardly get benefits of any kind.Ex Railway Minister made money for himself and Railway by selling land as railway stations and it's surrounding are always premium property. He is no Management Guru but a juggler of balance sheet no doubt about it.All Ministers want is a lucrative ministry with big budgets ! Why !! Obviously to make more personal money !!!God Bless !!!!
