The DC said that the administration will consider their representations on merit. Gurjar said that in some areas, even the revised rates are less than the old rates.
The DC highlighted that the collectors’ price related to the sale deeds and properties were revised following the Chief Minister’s directive, after widespread resentment among the public and real estate dealers. But after the revision in prices was announced, the property dealers protested against it.
The property dealers claimed that the reduction of rates was nominal, and not what the CM had promised. The representatives of property dealers also met local MP Sharanjit Singh Dhillon in this regard on Tuesday.
The DC said that considering the demand of the property dealers of Ludhiana, the rates of stamp duty of property sale deeds have been substantially reduced in 99.9% areas of the district. He added that before taking the decision, the administration had lengthy discussions with the local representatives regarding the rates.
