A meeting to decide land acquisition for the international airport was held today at the DC office in Mohali under the chairmanship of Mohali DC HIS Grewal.

The members of land acquisition committee presented their demand and proposed the price of Rs 4 crore per acre. The members included the local MLA from Kharar Balbir Sidhu, local sarpanch and others.

Although no concrete decision was taken in the meeting, the government officials have decided to review the demand.

The areas of villages that would be acquired for the upcoming airport included four acres from Sohana village, 20 marlas from Jheurheri village and about 306.18 acre from Mohali district.

The price that the Punjab government has offered for the acquisition is between 50 and 60 lakh per acre, which is below the expectations of the villagers whose lands would be acquired.
