Chennai Advocates in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry started their indefinite boycott of court proceedings on Friday, while law students who picketed the Sri Lankan Consulate in Chennai were detained, in the intensifying protests over the conflict in Sri Lanka between the Government forces and the LTTE. Students from various government colleges in the city boycotted classes on Friday.

The associations will consider the future course of action after meetings are convened in the first week on February.

Law students joined their seniors in protest and picketed the Lankan Consulate in Chennai. As many as 40 students were held by the police.

The four sitting MPs of the Congress, which is staunchly opposed to the LTTE, received threats on Thursday, warning that one of them will be killed if war in Lanka is not stopped. An anonymous letter received by Palani MP S K Kaarvendhan warned that one of the four MPs -- including TNCC president K V Thangkabalu, Union Minister E V K S Elangovan and MLA C Gnanasekaran -- will be killed, adding that there will not be any more 'reminders'.

Protection of innocent tamilians by RAMA D.N. on 30 Jan 2009

Advocates, law coolege and other students fom Tamil nadu knows well that LTTE is a terrorists outfit and need to be demolished. They need not support LTTE. They should only support the innocent tamilians who are butchered by LTTE after making those innocents as shield to protect themselves. If these people are so concern about innocent tamilians they should offer their whole hearted help to the innocent tamilians. They need to be protected by all means. By doing all these nasty things at Tamil nadu, they are not going to help anyone. They must decide a corrected step forward.

Human Shield? by Nakkeeran on 30 Jan 2009

Human shield? Have you been blinded by you hatred towards Tamils? The Singhala government declared a 'safe zone' and bombed the Tamils who went there for safety. You people are blinded by the term 'Terrorist' and the Sri Lankan government knows that. Terrorists are the people who bombard innocent civilians day and night by air and artillery. Not the ones who fight for a cause like self determination and self rule. What has LTTE done to you fools that you hate them so much? They have been fighting for same cause of achieving liberation for Tamils for decades. Unlike your Indian politicians who change their 'cause' as they wish. By the way before you start calling me a Tiger terrorist.... I am a Malaysian Tamil who is guilty of not being able to help our brothers in Eelam in the war against genocide.
