London Stephen Pound, a pro-India British lawmaker said on Friday that Pakistan-based terror group Lashker-e-Taiba blamed for the Mumbai attack, will not give up violence even if the Kashmir dispute is resolved.

"Lashker-e-Taiba has tasted blood. They will not give up violence even if the Kashmir dispute is resolved tomorrow," Pound, former Chairman of the 'Labour Friends of India', a pro-India parliamentary lobby said.

Pound, who was in India this week, was reacting after British Foreign Secretary David Miliband wrote that India needed to resolve the Kashmir dispute in order to combat the LeT.

Writing in the Guardian yesterday, Miliband said "although I understand the current difficulties, resolution of the dispute over Kashmir would help deny extremists in the region one of their main calls to arms, and allow Pakistani authorities to focus more effectively on tackling the threat on their western borders."

Pound said "India is much closer to the Line of Control than Britain. Kargil happened not too long ago. If I were the Indian minister of defence, I'd want other countries to keep quiet about the subject."

Making peace with terrorrists by jai Singh on 18 Jan 2009

Mr Pound is absolutely right regarding a peace deal or political solution when it comes to stopping terrorism. Terrorists will not put down their guns till THEY have the power and they shall keep killing their enemies and their former allies to STAY in power. Their perverted and very narrow fanaticism shall remain unchanged. There can be no compromises with terrorists. They have to be tackled without pity since they show none. One should take Mr.Miliband's comments seriously because he is trying to score points with Pakistan and the Labour voters in England. This can be damaging for India.

Lashkar has tasted blood it won't stop.... by Tapan Bose( Flt.Lt.IAF-Retd.) on 17 Jan 2009

I agree with Kaushal that we (India) would be living in CLOUD CUCKOO-LAND if we believe that LET or any other Pakistan-based terror groups will become India's "friends" if the Kashmir problem is solved!! The ULTIMATE AIM of muslim terror groups is to establish Islamic rule in India!! After all, at the time of the Partition( in 1947) the Pakis wanted to uproot the Taj Mahal marble by marble

Miliband's uncalled comments by S.N.Iyer on 17 Jan 2009

It is strange that in our effort to get diplomatic support to India's stand on the MUmbai attack, we have invited uncalled for and unfounded remarks made by visitors from other countries. Noticeably, the remarks of Mr David Milband are uncalled for, unjustified and confusing. It is high time we desist from inviting such guests to our country and make these kinds of comments on our soil. let them write whatever they want in their own Press. Mr Milband seems to be totally inexperienced in external matters and seems to have wrong premises while linking the Kashmir problem with the Mumbai attack. Let us stay clear of foreign interference in our affairs if they do not have the right prespective on our problems.

kashmir is not the matter by shweta on 17 Jan 2009

yes ofcourse....this is really very strange that someone from other country come to india to say all such things....mr.milband unecessarily links two opposite things...its not the matter of kashmir.it is about our mumbai.kashmir has nothing to do with it....

Kashmir irrelevant?. Pakistan should accept all indian Muslims to pakistan? by gary on 17 Jan 2009

If Pakistan is so concerned about Indian Muslims then Pakistan government should Invite all Indian muslims to come and live in pakistan. Pakistan was founded on religious divisions and for muslims. Indians were so tolearant that they allowed millions of muslims to stay in India. The only reason that given by pakistan is that kashmir is Muslim dominated area , then tomorrow UP and Bihar will be next to be folowed. Tolerance on the part of Indians was a welcome sign that allowed muslims to live and fluorish in India. Was it a mistake or a goodwill sign? Right minded people need to sit together and decide.

KASHMIR! by Vinod Dawda on 16 Jan 2009

Mr Pound is right and India should be able to see it.Let us look at any religious driven body wih suspicion and contempt. They should treated as criminal organisations and described as such if they use violence or coercion. There is little doubt that LeT will not stop its activities regardless of what demands are met. India has to be prepared to hit back at these groups by whatever means and forget about useless economic progress as it will only benefit the masters who conquer India or control India.Economic prosperity s of no use if it can not be defended. The only explanation of current and previous reaction by India is that Indians, be they Hindus or Muslims, have been enslaved for so many generations that they are not likely to react with dignity or respect. The current education also trains Indians to be good slaves even if highly paid.

Simple Solution by ModisFan on 16 Jan 2009

One simple solution is both countries acknoledge the LoC as border and the claim on others part of Kashmir. One political solution is reached, others may line up as well. Now if some radicals are about Muslim vs Hindus as others have pointed, it will not solve the problems. In such cases, the only solution I see is like what Israel is doing in MiddleEast.

India is still Darul-Harab by excellentsuccess on 16 Jan 2009

For LET India is Daul Harab, a country where Muslim are not ruling over Kafirs. The Muslim concept is they should rule over the destinies of Non-Muslims Kafirs who should convert to Islam or face sword or Jaziya. when Auranzeb was ruling over India, he had imposed Zajiya. Anybody not paying was crushed under the feet of Elephants. In those trying circumstances Shivaji came as a real saviour of Hindus. He knew how to fight with these Arabic slavish Mongol barbarians. He said that India should have Hindavi Swarajya i.e., Indian republic ruled by Indians. Throughout his life he fought on these principles. After his unfortunate death at an age of just 49 years, Auranzeb decided to crush his followers so as to ensure all Hindus are either killed or converted and their women folk converted, raped and taken away as Male-Ganimat. But Aurangzeb failed in this mission and died with disappointment. LET has a mission of completing this task. Shivaji was real father of Indian nation

Interests? by Rajan Sharma on 16 Jan 2009

It is not only Stephen, almost the whole world knows the truth. But, everyone in order to safeguard its some or other personal interests, keeps silent. What bothers me is, why our leaders are not ready to understand the same and act accordingly? I dont see any other interest above the national interest.

Islam vs Others by Kaushal on 16 Jan 2009

Hi,Mr Stephen Pound has correctly summed up the matter. This Congress govt is fooling the people. Its not the Kashmir issue. Its the Islam vs Others. In India, its Islam vs Hindu. In Israel, its Islam vs Jews. The sooner people understand this the better.

Pak and Terrorists. by SC on 17 Jan 2009

It is unfortunate that India has got a neighbour like Pakistan. Only one option left India must also work the Pakistan way by sending terrorists to Pak.

Right on the dot by Suresh on 16 Jan 2009

Thanks, Kaushal. No one could have put in such a concise manner. So, it is either us or they. Do we have a choice other than the obvious. Let's dump what Delhi can or should do and start looking for ourselves, I do not know exactly how, but that's the only way out as I see it. Need to figure out something. Very very soon, that too.
